Why is BBBOnLine important? BBBOnLine meets
the need for consumers to "sort out" online marketers who meet high standards,
make significant commitments to their customers, and agree to resolve
complaints quickly and fairly. Who is in charge of the program? BBBOnLine, Inc.
is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Council of Better Business Bureaus,
the premier promoter of the highest ethical relationship between business
and their customers. Can companies copy the BBBOnLine
seal? While the actual BBBOnLine
graphic can be copied, the "click to check" mechanism confirms that the
site is registered with BBBOnLine. That's why it's important to
always click on the BBBOnLine seal when you see it. Several other
security mechanisms are also in place to protect the program. How much does it cost? There is a license
fee for participation in BBBOnLine and displaying the seal. Fees
are based on the number of employees in the company. How will I know if the business is
a participant? Consumers will know
immediately whether or not an online business is a BBBOnLine participant.
Companies that do participate proudly display the BBBOnLine seal
on their web site. Consumers should always "click to check" to receive
a BBBOnLine profile on that particular company. To check for current
participants, click here.
