Writer Richard Bila reports from Ionia Raceway Park.....

With the largest crowd in Ionia Raceway Park history on hand and ready to race, a light rain shower that started right after the drivers meeting, and ended around 8:30 and with some drivers that did not want to wait another hour to start racing, the World of Outlaws race was postponed until Monday night September 27. This was the 7th rain out of the year at IRP. The IRP track crew spent the entire light rain shower running the track in, and appeared to be around just one more hour away from racing. However several outlaw drivers were already loaded up and ready to go well before 8pm. As a result, once again the officials of the WoO decided that the fans in Michigan can wait until they decide they want to race. Owner Mike Mouch had lined up the support class of IMCA modified drivers to help assist in running in the track and agreed to let the sprints run off there entire show to allow them to get going to their next show in Wisconsin. All the hard work by Mouch, Jeff Chapko and the track workers went for nothing as the Outlaws pulled out and left another Michigan crowd to wait. The same thing happened in June at Hartford Speedway Park. It makes one wonder why this group has no respect or regard for the great racing fans and track owners of Michigan!
