The Swing Machine Golf booth was a popular spot at this year's
PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Florida (January 29 - February
1, 2004). Paul Wilson (seated) was on hand all 4 days to explain
why everyone should be learning how to copy the perfect golf
swing of the Iron Byron, and to autograph copies of Swing
Machine Golf.
After I gave your book to my brother,
Ralph, he proceeded to shoot a 34 for 9 holes (one under par).
Ralph is a 20 handicapper and a lifelong slicer. Last night
I talked to him again and he had just shot a 39 for his last
9 holes. He says his biggest problem is that he is hitting
the ball straight off the tee and after slicing for 50 years
he is afraid to play the ball for a straight shot!
Obviously, he is impressed with your
book. I share his impression ... The quality of the paper,
the picture quality and the format are first rate.
My favorite thing about it is the theme
of simplifying the game. Most instruction books tend to tell
you how difficult the golf swing is and attempt to give you
20 different things to think about in the quarter second of
the downswing. Needless to say many people get so frustrated
with this approach that they either give up the game or decide
to do it their way. Your approach and self checks should go
a long way in overcoming this and I think, as my brother has
already found out, long years of bad habits can be overcome.

George Manning (Inventor of Iron Byron)

I met Paul Wilson in the spring of
2000. At the time I was a frustrated 16 handicapper. We discussed
my goals and I decided to book a series of five lessons with
him. Well, after three lessons and practising his method,
my handicap had dropped to 8. I of course, returned and completed
the other 2 lessons and again continued to practice. Paul
also showed me how to practice effectively. After completing
all 5 lessons my handicap had dropped to 6. UNBELIEVABLE!
I was not a popular guy with my golf buddies. After 10 lessons
and a lot of practice my handicap now is a FOUR. I went from
shooting 88's and 90's to scoring 75 and 76's consistently.
I dropped 12 strokes from my "cap" in basically
ten lessons with Paul Wilson and his Iron Byron swing technique.
I WOULD RECOMMEND PAUL WILSON'S BOOK
TO ANYONE WHO WANTS TO PLAY BETTER GOLF FASTER.

Update (September
17, 2002): Paul, I broke par today! I finished 35, 34 at Glen
Cedars Golf Club for a smooth 69! I'm floating on clouds!
The book is really very good and should be a genuine best-seller
for golfers.
After starting to read the book I realized
that to work further on my "old" swing would be
a complete waste of time! Here it was - right in front of
me! With all its great pictures and very good explanations
it was really easy to get started. Within three weeks my swing
had become better than ever. I felt like having the perfect
swing!
My wife started to play golf four months
ago. She's by now swinging like a profesional. This is not
fair to us golfers that have been playing this game for many
years! This is telling me quite a lot about your book and
your methods.
My first idea was to strictly keep
this to myself. I did not want to share this revolutionary
discovery with anyone -- especially not with my golf-mates.
I saw this as a chance for ME to be the best. But now I just
wish for everyone to experience the feeling of the perfect
swing!!!
Ken and Paul, I hope I can shake Your
hands someday and thank you both for this book!

Ex-Golf Nut Of The Year Finds The Perfect Swing!
Only
one golfer that I have ever seen or heard of can be relied
upon to swing perfectly every day, day after day. Unlike Tiger
or Ernie, "he" has never won a tournament because
the he is a machine. Iron Byron is his name and he "lives"
at USGA HQ in Far Hills, New Jersey.
I
asked the USGA if I could purchase a VCR film of Iron Byron
in action to take home to Ireland with me. I thought that
if I could watch Iron Byron in action for five or ten minutes
before going out to play I would have a better chance of retaining
the mental image long enough to be able to reproduce its perfect
rhythm and form on the golf course. Unfortunately it was not
possible.
To
my amazement, quite soon after my Far Hills visit the next
best thing emerged. Through the Golf Nut Society I heard about
a new book called Swing Machine Golf written by Paul Wilson
and Ken Steven and published by Storytrend Publishing. The
book is packed with pictures taken from all angles of Paul
Wilson, well known on the Golf Channel, showing us how to
swing as the machine does. I immediately sent for a copy and
I'm glad I did!
The
best part of the book is the (illustrated) way it tells you
how to work on what is needed to make your swing better. Not
many books do that! Instructors tells us what NOT to do and
what we SHOULD do, but rarely HOW TO do it in minute detail.
By applying the positions advocated by Paul Wilson in the
book at the driving range a couple of nights each week I am
continuing to play as well as I did twenty years ago when
I was a scratch handicap. A metamorphosis of mega proportions!
The improvement in my ball striking has been dramatic. I may
have found "the secret" all of us crave.
Every
golfer would benefit from being machine-like and repetitive
in the execution of the golf swing and never missing a stroke,
like Iron Byron. I highly recommend that you buy a copy of
Swing Machine Golf and discover "the secret" for
yourself.

I've
read over a dozen instruction books, but none can compare
to Swing Machine Golf, which is so simple and easy to follow.
At first, I was quite puzzled about the free wrist hinge concept,
but after following Paul's instruction to practice for a while,
I found my missing power through the natural release of my
wrist in response to my turn. The ball goes consistently straight
and long, and I also found my swing very relaxed and effortless.
Thank you, Paul. I would like to see when Paul will publish
another instruction book, preferably on short game.

At
the 2003 Bob Hope Chrysler Classic, each of the 26
celebrity golfers participating in the tournament received
a copy of SWING MACHINE GOLF. Here, avid golfer and legendary
rock singer, Alice Cooper shows off his copy of the
book for the camera ... actually he's showing off the box
that the book comes packed in! Other celebrities who received
the book included Roger Clemens, Ken Griffey Jr., Joe Kernen,
Rush Limbaugh, Maury Povich, Michael Bolton, Glenn Frey, Darius
Rucker, A.J. McLean, Andy Williams, Joe Pesci, David James
Elliott, William Devane, and Kevin Sorbo. They should all
be human swing machines by the time you see them on television
at next year's Bob Hope Classic!
I
bought your book 4 weeks ago. It's the BEST thing ever for
my game.
I've been an 18-20 handicap for years
with a good short game. I have fought a dive slice, wrist
lock, Conan swing forever. Not anymore! I can actually start
with my hips, not hands, and stay in the grass and when the
wheels start to fall off a good round I focus on powerless
arms, staying connected and uncoil from the bottom.
My last 18 rounds in 24 days (without
range balls) my handicap index went from 18.2 to 10.8 and
I think I can get to a 5 or better. I am a tad obsessive on
practice, so I spent about 1 hr a day every day for 3 weeks
straight on your book, and actually changed my preshot routine
to three perfect practice swings on every shot.
I think I can actually maintain and
improve my swing for good now without any lessons. Thanks,
Tom James

I
have played 4 rounds since I adopted the new swing and I can't
believe the transformation in my game. I hit the ball long
and high. I shot an 82 yesterday! Not bad for a (before the
book) 20 handicap. I did not experience any bad rounds since
learning the swing at the range. Worst round was 87. It seems
so easy and I'm so confident. I love your e-mail tips. I look
forward to even more steady progress. However, if I got no
better than my current game I would be thrilled with what
you have done for me. Thanks again.

I
was immediately impressed when I saw a copy of Swing Machine
Golf. Paul Wilson has demonstrated that he is an instructor
to be regarded highly. From cover to cover the narrative is
so simple to follow along with the pictures that so wonderfully
illustrate what he is talking about. Golf instructors should
be challenged to communicate not only the proper information,
but to style it in a way that allows the student to understand
fully what they have been asked to do. I think this book goes
as far as any book I have read toward conveying the right
message to all golfers, whether they be proficient or just
starting. This book should be considered as a model for standardizing
instruction.

I
read Swing Machine Golf from start to finish as prescribed,
and I think it is the best golf book I have ever read (and
I have read a lot of golf books and magazine articles). I
liked the way each segment of the swing was described in detail,
and the practice routines were helpful. I have taken lessons
from a very competent pro, and although his views on the golf
swing mechanics are very similar to Paul's, the book's detailed
pictures, clarifications and reinforcement were an important
extra step.
I find it very useful to open the book
to the appropriate page, and compare my body movements to
Paul's. I worked through each step on the practice tee, and
after about four weeks my shots began to improve dramatically.
My drives were straighter and 20 yards longer, and my iron
shots were straighter and longer also. My average scores came
down several strokes also.
I'm only part of the way to where I
want to be, but I realize it takes time and patience. I have
lots of work to do, but this book really helps keep me on
the right track.

Please note that I have bought your
excellent book. Last night I played my first round, having
read the book cover to cover and working on the first two
lessons. I know it is still very early, but several things
were immediately obvious:
1) I was no longer manipulating the
face of my irons (I play with Staff Tour blades). My hands
were 'quiet' through the ball.
2) My shots were straight, without
sidespin. Believe me, when I hit nine 1-iron shots without
any noticeable sidespin, I was astonished.
3) My follow through and finish felt
almost effortless (in upper body terms). My left kidney is
no longer so well acquainted with my left elbow at the finish
of my 1 iron swing! This I attribute to the follow through
without a club exercise in your book.
As a golf fanatic, the cost is already
well worthwhile. With constant, hopefully intelligent, application
of the contents of your book, I look forward to continuing
improvement. I realise that progress will not necessarily
be as smooth as I have experienced so far. I have gone my
own hardworking way for far too long, and I am delighted that
I now have a structured framework for my hours of practice.
As a ten handicapper I had made progress, but I was getting
frustrated relying on a lot of hand action, as I was inconsistent.
That is why I was so delighted that I got such great results
by 'not doing anything with my hands'.
Time to move on to lesson three.
Many thanks.

As someone who has studied a variety of techniques with mixed
success, Swing Machine Golf represents a clear and logical
evolution in learning the golf swing. It focuses on distilling
mechanics down to a simple and pure action that is easily
grasped and repeated. I truly believe Paul deserves major
success in shaking up the golf guru elite.

Dear
Paul, you are absolutely right about your method of swinging
a golf club. It all fell into place Sunday. My wife said you
are just arming your swing and you have no power and you look
awful. She said turn your shoulders and remember the triangle
and swing it like Paul says. So, I took it back with my shoulders
and torqued it good and swung with my belt buckle on the downswing,
and hit it farther and straighter than I have ever hit it.
Shot 73 from the 6580 yard white tees today and missed shooting
my age my one shot!
Thanks Paul. I am slowly going over
your wonderful book again and golf has become awesome again.
Thanks.

Update (June 6, 2003): Paul, I
am swinging like you teach better and better every day. Can't
believe how straight and far the ball is going. It is definitely
the best way to hit a golf ball. Thanks again.
I wanted to take a moment to tell how much I appreciate your
book "Swing Machine Golf". It is excellent both
in the quality of the paper, photography, layout, but especially
the content. You have managed to capture the complexities
of the golf swing, simplify it and present the swing in a
manner that is easy to understand and more importantly easy
to duplicate. Your lessons are very helpful.
I applied the principles taught in your book on my last round
for this season and the results amazed me and my friends.
I hit the ball further than I did during the summer months
and with much less effort. I hit the ball straighter and I
was able to follow through the swing better than at any time
during the season.
As a result, I shot 39 on the front nine using what I learned
in your book. We ran out of daylight, so we couldn't play
a full 18 (too bad, because it was shaping up to be a career
round)!
I have a 12 handicap and I have invested in many costly golf
lessons. Every professional wants me to make radical changes
so that I swing like "Tiger Woods" (It is NEVER
going to happen). I come away more confused and generally
I play poorly after their instruction. Not so with your book!
When I read "Swing Machine Golf" it is clear what
I need to do to improve, it costs less than a lesson and I
can go back to the book anytime I want to solve an annoying
problem.
Golf professionals want you to focus on three or four things
at one time so that you will feel like you received value
for the cost of the lesson. The best part of having your book
is that I can concentrate on one thing at a time...master
it and move on at my pace.
I will be using "Swing Machine Golf" during the
winter months to reinforce what I have learned and to get
prepared for another outstanding year of golf.
I strongly encourage anyone who is
interested in playing golf the way it is meant to be played
to purchase a copy. Just like me, they won't be disappointed.

After reading your clearly written
and beautifully illustrated instruction book "Swing Machine
Golf" several times, I began practicing the drills and
imitating the fundamental positions in front of a full-length
mirror. I was searching for greater consistency with my driver
-- at least 70% Fairways in Regulation--and knew I needed
a clearer conception of the swing and more confidence in my
game to accomplish this goal. My first round was a disaster:
I hit only 2 fairways!
You continued to encourage me and advised
me via daily email (what generous support!) to hang in there.
Well, several rounds later, I hit 17/18 fairways. My friends
are now calling me "Iron Byron" or "the machine."
And the drives are now setting me up for great approach shots
and more Greens in Regulation and lower scores.
I have no reservations in saying that
"Swing Machine Golf" is the BEST golf instruction
I have EVER used. I don't even bother to look at other instruction
methods since Paul Wilson has given me life-long fundamentals
and great drills to make them SUBCONSCIOUS for the perfect
golf swing!

Good morning Paul and Ken. What a FANTASTIC book! Beautiful
photographs. It's the finest golf instruction book I have
ever purchased.
62 years of playing the game we love .... and then page 47
with the reason why the right knee touches the side of the
left knee in the finish position ...... WOW!!! ........ it
has really helped me, and I will certainly recommend the book
to all my friends.
By the way, I won the Eastlake Woodlands
CC Match Play Championship today 2 and 1, and your book was
a BIG factor in the win.

Just wanted to congratulate you on
a successful book. I had taken lessons with Paul when he was
at Angus Glen and results were instantly realized. However,
with Paul moving down south I found myself gradually adopting
my old swing habits again (human nature). Luckily, the book
as published in time for me to refocus on the swing machine
principles. It was a great refresher, as there were a number
of small swing components that I had forgotten. My swing is
feeling true again and my ball striking is much improved.
Thanks again,

I received the book
this week and I must say that this is the best book that I
have. I really feel that I can't go wrong and know that all
of my practice will be totally productive. I've been doing
the drills suggested and have already noticed the difference
in some of the positions in my golf swing.
I am particularly impressed with the
"eyes level" drill in the backswing. I have always
had difficulty in moving my weight to my right side in the
backswing and always used to feel like I was swaying and overdoing
it. Now by doing your drills I feel like I can move into my
right side in the backswing whilst creating torque.
Thanks for your help.

This year I made the decision to take
up golf. I had never played before and in my line of work
people always want you to play.
For almost 20 years I have played baseball,
for recreation as well as professionally. I had heard so many
theories on how to swing a golf club that I was beginning
to think this was the hardest sport ever invented! However,
I suspected that a golf swing, like a baseball swing, was
actually quite simple and that it was made more difficult
by all the different teaching ideas.
That is when I discovered the Swing
Machine book. Just as I had thought, the perfect swing is
very simple and with enough practice very attainable. Of course,
I took a lot of abuse from some friends of mine that were
taking lessons. They thought I had wasted my money.
I spent 6 weeks of the last winter
practicing everything that the book had to offer. I didn't
go to the driving range and I didn't play one hole. I knew
that if I just committed to muscle memory the swing that was
being taught I would be better off.
And I was. When we started golfing
daily at our local course my freinds could not believe how
well I did. Now, I'm not saying I went out there and shot
par or anything, but all of my shots were straight. Over the
last 4 months I have been playing better than I ever thought
possible. Of course I still review the book just to make sure
that human nature is not disrupting things.
Thanks for writing such a great book.
My wife is taking up golf and is in the process now of going
through the lessons in the book. We are both happy about the
progress we are making.
To think all I spent was $60 one time
to learn. My friends have spent about $1,000 on lessons. Who's
taking the abuse now?
With Gratitude,

Your book arrived on Wednesday and
I have read and studied it. It is great in both communication
and the pictures. I have a lot of the problems covered in
your book. I like the idea of starting with the follow-through
first. I also like the way you keep repeating the three key
thoughts to start the downswing. Let me know when your next
book is printed.

Swing Machine Golf shows you what Julius
Boros wanted to say (but just couldn't) in Swing Easy, Hit
Hard. The logic of Paul Wilson's approach, together with unusually
useful graphics, make this book an important departure from
the myth and rhetoric into which most golf instruction books
descend. A serious student really should have this book.

I am a six handicap. I have played
as low as a 3. However, to play that low I had to be playing
all of the time to get a rhythm going that I was able to duplicate.
The problem with my game was that if I broke the pattern of
play and practice, I would break the rhythm and shoot rounds
in the high 70s to mid 80s.
I have played four rounds using your
swing theory. I have on occasion reverted back to my old swing
with disastrous results. When I consciously think about your
lessons and allow my arms to be passive connectors of the
club to my body, I hit the best iron and wood shots I have
ever experienced.
I am able to shape ball flight with
ease. I hit iron shots that have a beautiful high arc and
slight draw. I am able to do this effortlessly. The four rounds
I have played have been played only on the weekends with no
practice in between. I did not lose the "feeling"
of the swing and was able to effortlessly duplicate those
beautiful iron and wood shots.
Your book is great and explains the
mechanics behind your theory. I can tell you that it really
works. I am more excited about my game than I have ever been.
I have tried every swing tip known to man. They work for awhile
and then it is back to normal.
This absolutely works! I can tell you
that my handicap will again be below 5 shortly.
Thanks for your help. Your book and
theory will allow me to fire my analyst and I am confident
I can restore my "mental and emotional" health back
to normal levels.

I received your book this morning from
Airborne Express. It came real quick. I'm very impressed with
the quality of the book ie the paper, the photos and more
importantly the simple and clear instructions. I bought many

is good value for money. I'll be happy to recommend it to
my golfing friends. Best regards.

About
the book I can comment only in a real positive way, having
shot 75 in last week's competition (it should have been a
71 really) I cannot complain!
The only advice I would give to other
readers is: You have to be committed to improve your golf,
and you have to take the time to read the book as many times
as possible. I have probably read it 20 times by now and every
time I read a section again I understand it better.
I think you could make a killing with
this book here in Europe and as a German speaker I would love
to see it in a German edition.
Anyway, I enjoy the book like I have
never enjoyed an instruction book and getting your email tips
from time to time is just magic.

I must admit, with great joy, that
since purchasing the Swing Machine Golf book my game has improved
tremendously. I have been playing the game for approximately
two years, and I have taken pro lessons, and practiced weekly.
It was not until I began putting the book's lessons into practice
that I truly began to golf better. When I started I was shooting
approximately 120, and I am now shooting in the mid 90's,
and I am convinced it is because of the Swing Machine Golf
Book. It is a great book!

Dear Paul,
I like your book very much. So much
that some of my friends are a little tired of me talking about
it so much. I like the book because it creates a consistent
model that I can understand why I should swing that way. Often
other books do not make sense as to why the suggested instructions
work. Just faith. 'Do what I say and it will be alright'.
Also, may I compliment you on the quality
of the book. My work life was in education mainly in what
was called 'distance education' -- others might call it very
high quality correspondence education. The quality of the
instruction in your book is a credit to the authors, instructional
designers, editors and graphic designers. I really don't think
I have seen a better designed golf book anywhere.

Paul, I played golf for 10 years, since
I was 10, then had to go into the real world where I didn't
have time for golf. When I retired I wanted nothing more than
to play golf every day, at the level I remembered as a young
buck.
Well... it wasn't happening until I
got your book! Now I have to admit I'm no "swing machine",
but your insights into the golf swing returned my game! I'm
53 years old and playing as well as I did when I was in High
School....well, except for the putting!!!!!
I have recommended the book to many,
many of my friends who wish to re-enjoy the game! And I will
make it a Christmas present to all my golfing friends this
year. Thanks,

Paul, in the past years, I have invested
in an extensive collection of golf books, videos and teaching
aids. With that in mind, I have found your book and teaching
method to be the MOST effective and beneficial to my golf
game.
Despite attending expensive and helpful
golf schools, your instruction has far exceeded their impact
on my improvement and at a lot less cost!
I agree with you concerning the quality
of your book. Do not change a thing! I am hoping that you
will follow this book with one on the short game and putting.
I have recommended your book to all
the members of my golf club. They wanted to know how I learned
to hit the ball so well and so straight! My golfing buddies
are incredulous at my improvement. Happily I have graduated
from being a "pigeon" to being a "sandbagger"
in record time. As soon as my handicap catches up, I'm sure
I will be back in their good graces.
Thank you for giving me the concepts
and tools to fix my swing. You have succeeded in my case BEYOND
MY MOST OPTIMISTIC AND WILDEST EXPECTATIONS!!!!!

Hey Paul:
I have been teaching golf for the past
three years. In just reading your book and practicing the
drills for the past 15 days I have increased my own distance
by 35 yards!
I am 60 years old and this past Sunday
I drove the ball over 325 yards for the first time in my life.
I have settled on a distance of 270 as the average and if
it never gets any better I will die knowing that this distance
was not BS.
Last night Stephen, my student for
the past three years, showed up at the range with a friend.
They are both around 16/17 years of age. Stephen said "Mr.
Whelan, how far did you hit the ball when you were younger?
I never seen you hit the ball more than two thirty, two forty
since I've worked with you." I told him that I never
had to hit it further than that, as most people can't anyway,
and it's not good to make people feel bad about themselves
when they are learning (this was my cover up story ... I had
never been able to hit it further).
Both lads bet 2 bucks each I couldn't
hit 250, and to add insult to injury They gave me five balls
to try it in. My first drive was around 270, the second maybe
275 the rest darn near 285. Young Steve's eyes are still bugged
out. I've never heard so many "wows" in one conversation
in all my years!
Why with all the material I have studied
over the past fifteen years was this concept of yours so elusive?
Your book is the best explained and
demonstrative of any I have read in my life. This should become
a best seller real soon. I would strongly urge anyone reading
this testimonial to follow your instructions and I want you
all to know I don't receive a penny for stating this. At my
age getting excited is dangerous so I have to close this now.
Regards and good luck,

Let me say that after diligently studying
your book on Swing Machine Golf every spare minute I could
during the past week that I am very impressed. You present
everything in an easy to understand format and I feel confident
that it will only be a matter of time before I am hitting
the ball consistently better than before.

Paul, I hate you! My friends don't
want to play golf with me any more because I hit longer and
straighter than them. The most important reason they got angry
is my swing is so EFFORTLESS AND RELAXED. PAUL, I really like
to say I LOVE YOU!

Just wanted to again thank you for
your instruction -- first through your book, and continuing
through your e-mails. Finally played my first 9-holes of the
year this past Monday night (after reading/practicing the
positions in your book for the last couple of months, no balls
hit!). I must say I hit a couple of the most solid-feeling
shots in my recent memory.
How timely your golf tip #6. I am still
trying to break my lifelong golf habit of rotating my hips
concurrently with my shoulders when I start my backswing.
I have to think and try real hard to hold my hips stationary,
but boy is it worth it!! Funny thing is that I've taken a
lesson or two over the years and read many a book and magazine
article, but you're the first to point out this critical aspect
of the backswing (at least it's critical for me!).
Yes, I still have much practice to
do but I'm looking forward to it. This year I hope to maybe
break 80 for the first time ever. Thanks again.

Paul, I really enjoy your book. I have
read it a number of times and my swing is improving on a consistent
basis. I'm currently a 6 handicap and have been taking lessons
off and on with my club pro. I'm happy to say your book has
been more help to me than anything I've tried. I've even had
a couple of private lessons with Jimmy Ballard. They were
good but he didn't cover in detail what I've gotten from your
book. Thanks a ton.

I have to say that when I "cracked
the cover" of Swing Machine Golf, I got your message
loud and clear. I quickly read thru the chapters to get a
sense of the teaching methodology and found several points
that made a strong impact on me immediately.
I am now methodically working from
A to B as you suggest and wanted to let you know that I appreciate
the schedule and tips you've laid out.
Thanks for writing this book; it all
makes more sense now!

Paul: I want to thank you for a great
book. I happened to find your website on the internet while
surfing for Golf items. I wasn't looking for an instruction
book, and normally I wouldn't pay that much for one. But there
was something intriguing about the concept, and the fact I
had just decided to play again after a lay-off of over twenty
years. I am 65, and quit when I was in my early 40s. I thought
I would be able to get back into the groove with just a little
time and effort. Nope, I have had to go back to all the basics.
Your book has made it very easy to
visualize the process. Whenever I take something for granted,
and have problems, I can go back to the book and find where
I have gone wrong. I wish I had a book like this when I first
started the game. I am looking forward to your next book.
Please let me know when it is available. Good luck.

Hi Paul and Ken:
I would like to say after some time
procrastinating about buying your book Swing Machine Golf,
mostly because of the price (living in Canada and the currency
exchange rate) and being a little skeptical (I have purchased
other books or video's and they never really helped), I'm
sure glad I did. It was the best investment I have made yet.
Just a little about myself. Age 54.
I have been playing about 30 Years. Present index 7.2 and
about to go lower! For the last few years I have played a
little cut shot as my "go to" shot. I could on occasion
draw the ball (but very rarely), but after 2 weeks with your
book and using the drills (very easy to understand I might
add) drawing the ball is no problem.
Also since buying your book, I always
bought Golf Digest and Golf Magazine and now I can't because
of all the conflicting articles, so that makes your book a
bargain. I thank you for that, and for simplifying the golf
swing for me. You have put forward a golf instruction book
that is very easy to understand. When you come out with your
next book about the short game, put me in line to purchase
it. Thank You.

PS..Great Book my hat goes off to both
of you......
I recently purchased your book Swing
Machine Golf. I did a read through and I'm very impressed.
I started playing 20 years ago and the only instruction I
received was form my expert friends (my scores were 100+).
I have been seriously trying to get it together for 3 years
now going to different pros and reading books. Your book puts
it all together, everything everyone else tried to say but
did not get the point across. I look forward to finally swinging
correctly. Thanks,

Paul, thank you very much for your
book and your follow-up tips. I finally understand the fundamentals
of a good golf swing, and I'm trying very hard to add consistency.
This is my golf bible...when I follow your advice on the golf
course, the swing is effortless..the ball goes straight and
far. I have read your book at least three times...and use
it as the benchmark. Looking forward to the next one on the
short game.
PS I even put Tiger's book aside in
favor of The Swing Machine.

I have received the Swing Machine book
and am currently on my second reading and like it very much.
It really simplifies the whole swing process. I'm interested
in knowing when you may be coming out with a book on your
short game and putting thoughts. Thanks.

Paul, I am hitting my fairway metals
and drivers long and straight. I am 64 years old, hitting
my driver consistently 250-270 and my 3-wood over 200. My
friends are amazed. My swing feels right, as my balanced finish
tells me. I believe I have incorporated your teachings into
my swing.

Paul, thanks for the very detailed
tips that you have sent via E-mail. Your book is full of valuable
tips and your coaching method makes a lot of sense re: the
order in which you teach things. My game has improved substantially
since reading your book.
The next thing for me to work on is
keeping my arms powerless while having the coiling feeling
in the rest of my body. The tendency is since everything in
my body is tightly coiled, my arms want to follow the same
pattern and thus they tend to have the same tension. I know
what you mean by powerless arms because I have hit some of
my furthest and straightest shots when my arms are loose.
I'll keep working on it.

There's something about this game that drives people nuts.
And that's what we're all about here at the Golf Nuts Society.
We chronicle the insane exploits of these otherwise perfectly
normal human beings as they desperately, passionately, and
hilariously search for "THE SECRET." So, what is
this thing called "THE SECRET" you ask? Well, it's
not the meaning to life, but it is the key to unlocking the
hidden code of the perfect golf swing, which makes it much
more important than the meaning of life.
One of our members, Ken Steven, has
co-authored a book with Paul Wilson, called Swing Machine
Golf. It is a very well-written, high quality table-top book,
complete with beautiful photography and solid swing theory.
And, it just might be "THE SECRET."

Yesterday I had my third game with
the Iron Byron swing and indeed I shot the best back nine
I ever had. Notwithstanding the fact that I was playing in
a casual ASEAN (in Tokyo) competition and I was organizing
it!
As I am still working through the lessons
with my 7 iron, throughout the game yesterday I teed off with
my 5-wood and used only 7-iron and below. But despite that,
I shot a 48 on my back nine! Of course, it could have been
better if not for the 3-putts and lousy chip/pitch shots.
But what surprised me most was that
I shot par on both par-5s (both 500+ yards). Especially the
2nd par-five, I did a 3-on about 5 feet away from the pin!
All done with a 5-wood and an 8-iron! My friends could not
believe that I had started golf only half a year ago and had
started the Iron Byron swing only a month ago! My shots were
mostly straight and even if there weren't, at least they were
not far off. All of them commented that I had great rhythm,
swing plane etc... and of course I kept raving about your
book!
Will keep you updated on my progress.
I really, really hope that your second book on the short game
will be out soon.
Anyway, thanks again for the wonderful
book!

Dear Paul:
When I bought your book I had no idea
what would eventually happen. I followed your lessons by the
book. Everything you said about human nature was like you
had followed me around watching me hack at balls. My golf
game was terrible, shooting 120'S or better. It happened just
like you said, I went to the course and was expecting good
scores and got worse.
I kept working on it and through much
practice I have finally broke into the seventies. I shot a
78 last Saturday which is the best score to date that I have
ever shot.
I can't tell how much this book has
helped my game. I have told all of my friends but they still
can't believe that I learned everything just by reading this
book. The proof is in the game. I have finally taken over
the A player spot on my golf league team. I owe it to you.
Thanks once again.

Paul: I purchased your book as a result
of an ad on the ClubLink web site. I was buying blind, not
having heard anything about your book before. The description
sounded good to me and so I took a chance. IT'S WONDERFUL!
The real proof will not be there until
I have improved my game, but, I already have a better understanding
of what is going well and what needs improvement just because
you have explained the relationship of ball flight and swing
errors so well. Thanks.

Dear Paul and Ken,
The instructions are clear, concise
and easy to follow. The pictures are properly sequenced and
reinforce your teachings. On the day I received your book,
I read it cover to cover, tried out most of the drills and
went to the driving range the following day. My shots were
far straighter and more consistent.
I have been through a few swing coaches
and countless "Self-help" books. They pale in comparison
to your book. It was my best spent $60 on golf ever. Congratulations
on a brilliant job. Thanks.

I worked all winter in my basement
on Swing Machine Golf. I am a 64 year old retired senior golfer
and play about 3 times a week. Last year I was an 18 handicapper.
This year I have improved to a 12 and recently shot a 74 and
a 76. Swing Machine has helped me immensely. Particularly
off the tee where I have been at least 30-40 yards longer
and very straight.

Swing
Machine Golf is a phenomenal lesson book that I've immediately
passed on to my son. Paul shows you how to take the guesswork
out of your swing and repeat the proper swing without thinking
about it.
The illustrations are terrific, easy
to understand, and this method works wonders for a 12 handicap
like me and a 13 year old just finding his way! The only thing
you don't learn from this book is how effective a teacher
Paul is in person.

Earlier tonight I watched you on The Golf Channel. I must
say, out of all the instructors I have seen on that show,
your methods of relating the correct golf swing to the Iron
Byron made the most sense. It's rather easy when you think
about the simplicity of the machine, and directly relate it
to your swing. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

Paul, I did not skip through the book
but read every page carefully and am about to start through
it again, methodically following the lessons. The good news
is that, following your advice on "powerless hands and
arms" I am already hitting it longer and straighter so
know that as I progress carefully through the lessons I will
continue to improve.
I love the logic of the lessons (I
am an incurable analytic) and think the book is beautifully
and clearly written and illustrated. I know I will have no
difficulty following it.
I have recommended the book to several
friends.
Thanks again!

I
read your book and started using your system about a month
ago. My game had been on the decline for awhile, and my handicap
had gone up to 15. Over the weekend I shot 78 and 81. That
was the first time I have broken 80 in over a year.
Thanks for your
help!

Swing Machine Golf is a wonderful book ... one of the best

Paul, I wanted to pass along a bit
of good news about what kind of impact your book is making
out here in the real world.
I am an Assistant Pro at Mohawk Park
Golf Club in Tulsa, OK. Over the last few years my golf game
has gotten progressively worse, to the point that at the ripe
old age of 49 I was seriously thinking about a career change.
It is truly embarrassing to carry the title I must carry and
go out and perform like a hack. Kind of like being a singer
who can't carry a tune. Anyway, a couple of weeks ago I shot
an 89 at Southern Hills and I'll tell you, I was ready to
pack it in.
I've always been a hands player. I
was self taught (not very well) and I've always been a hands
hitter of the golf ball. Needless to say, if your timing is
on - great day, but if not -- horrendous! I have been looking,
for some time now, for a way to get my hands out of the golf
swing. I knew swinging this way wasn't right but I didn't
know how to change it.
The night of the Southern Hills debacle
I was sitting at the computer looking for the cure. I don't
even remember now what I put into the Google search but I
came across a review of your book. It wasn't even at your
site so I didn't get any of the wonderful initial information
you provide there. Just a basic review and an opportunity
to buy the book. Which I did. I told my wife at the time of
purchase that this was it. Either this makes me better or
I'm done...that simple.
The book came about a week or so ago
and I dove in. I noticed right off the bat that your teaching
style was going to be very comfortable for me. I needed to
know the why's that you provide, as much as the how's. I needed
to know why human nature prevents the right things from happening
in the golf swing. I needed to know that I'm not alone out
here fighting this.
I had a gut feeling after the first
night of reading that everything was going to be OK. It was
already like a huge weight had the potential to lift and I
don't know if you can relate to "hopeless", but
that's a pretty big load to carry. I had a feeling I was going
to get rid of it.
I have read, studied, drilled --- done
everything you teach in the order you teach it. I didn't even
want to go out and hit balls until you said to do it. Unfortunately,
I have a tournament coming up in less than a week and I had
to put it to the test sooner than you suggest. I needed to
see if anything was sinking in and I had to play a practice
round yesterday just to see how embarrassing this was going
to be.
I shot 74 with an eagle on #1 and three
birdies. I was amazed at some of the ball flights I saw yesterday.
The ball was going so much straighter, starting off on line
far more than I'm accustomed to seeing. I've been hitting
it off the world with any club in the bag and I'm out there
thinking, "Holy smokes, this is fun!"
Anyway, I don't know what lies ahead
with my swing but I am going to make every effort to practice
what you preach forever more. I would also imagine that your
book sales may go up a little bit because I'm going to be
out there teaching what you teach and the way you teach it.
I am going to let people know who you are and where they can
get the book.
The layout of the book is flawless.
To go through the steps from the correct grip on to everything
else the way you have is essential for those that want to
simplify a game that should be simple but has the potential
(because of human nature) to be mind boggling difficult. The
60 bucks I paid for the book may turn out to be the best money
I have ever invested! Thanks to you there is light at the
end of my tunnel.
Very Best Regards,

I am enjoying your Swing Machine Golf
Tips. They are a real bonus I certainly didn't expect when
I purchased your book.
Your book is very good. My wife and
I started golf just 6 years ago, at age 58, and it is a challenge.
We have been taking lessons for quite some time and your book
parallels what our pro is trying to teach us (trying to teach
old dogs new tricks is a real task for the pro). It is nice
to have independent conformation in pictures and words. As
you know not all people teach the same way, but this method
seems to work for us.
Thanks again.

are really very useful and I appreciate you sending them out
to us. Actually, I am more amazed that you are willing to
take the time to do the tips. When I bought the book I was
very pleased with my purchase and could see it was the best
golf instructional book I have ever read, by far and away!!

I'd like to take the opportunity to
congratulate you for the quality of the book, not only the
quality of the paper, cover, design and looks, but also and
mainly for the contents and the way it is presented. It really
is easy to follow and to mimic thanks to the details given
in each lesson. The great thing about those lessons is that
we can self diagnose if we are right or wrong in doing something.
Thanks again for this marvelous book!
This book should before long be recognized as the golf swing

The book is brilliant! In the past
I have paid a high penalty for slices off the tee with my
Driver, in an otherwise decent round.
In a week, the "follow-through"
drill, coupled with "loose wrists" produced awesome
results. My drives are now straight, or with a very gentle
draw, and range from 260 yards to an awesome 290 yards, without
a tailwind.
I have been accused (by friends) of
taking "Beta Blockers". They are all amazed and
I am absolutely thrilled! Thanks!

Swing Machine Golf is one of the most
comprehensive books I have ever read. From the grip to the

them myself when trying to explain proper positions to my

I received Swing Machine Golf on Friday.
I read it cover to cover Friday afternoon. I began some of
the lessons and quickly realized that all these years I have
been told to pull the club down or let my hands drop to start
the swing. Parenthetically, I have a Masters Degree in Kinesiology
and Bio-Mechanics, and it never made sense to me that one
would coil these massive muscles (quads, obliques and lats)
and then not use them sequentially to power the golf swing.
However, I just figured that with a game as bad as mine the
instructors knew what they were talking about.
Well, what an epiphany I had reading
and applying the principles of Swing Machine Golf. In fact
I played nine holes on Saturday morning and have never hit
the ball so far with so little effort. In fact a playing partner
commented that my swing resembled Fred Couples in both tempo
and relative distance. I have been playing with this gentleman
for several years and he has never commented on any part of
my game. Some may call it coincidence but I do not think so.
It seemed that there was an instant merger between my understanding
of the bio-mechanics involved and the principles of the book.
It just clicked!
I am going to steadfastly follow the
principles of the book, continue to follow the training and
conditioning espoused by Mike Pedersen and I am now more confident
than ever my game is going to improve rapidly and permanently.
By the way although I only had the
time to play 9 holes on Saturday, I shot a 43 and double bogeyed
2 holes due to two three-putt greens. This is the first time
this year I have shot under 45 for nine. Again coincidence??
I don't think so!!
Finally, I would like to compliment
you for the quality of the text and pictures. It's an absolute
piece of Art. It will make a great gift at Christmas this
year for a few people on my list.
Ken and Paul thanks for such a great
book. I feel like I have walked into the sunshine from a dark

I read your book from cover to cover

Hello Paul. I'm a 65 year old male
who took up golf six years ago. I took golf lessons for over
a year, subscribed to Golf Digest and Golf Magazine, and,
in general tried to follow every tip or lesson I was ever
exposed to. Try as I might, my handicap would not budge below
20.
Nick Bayley's e-mail newsletter put
me on to you. Somehow, I trusted Nick and sprang for the $60
to purchase your Swing Machine Golf. Simply put, it has proved
to be the best golf expenditure I have ever made.
After five weeks working through your
lessons I have lowered my handicap to 16 and am confident
that as I become more consistent with the application of your
fundamentals I can shave even more strokes. I presently play
between 54 and 72 holes of golf a week.
In my opinion, Swing Machine Golf is
the finest instructional program available to develop an effective
and reliable golf swing.

Paul, I have found your book to be
fantastically informative and effective. So much so, I'm more
and more regularily shooting in the 70s from what was previously
the high 80s. Lowest so far is 74 (par 72). Thanks a lot.

Gentlemen: I purchased Swing Machine
Golf about three weeks ago and I am already telling every
golfer I know about it. I bought your book because I just
got tired of playing the right side (mostly OB) of every golf
course due to a chronic slice. I've tried many other slice
cures but nothing worked consistently. Using your method in
Swing Machine Golf, I can already see the results, especially
with the driver. I'm now actually hitting drives straight
and long and I'm doing so more consistently each day I go
the range.
Three practice swings for each ball
hit was a great tip. My biggest fear is that I'm going to
wake up one day and find that this has been a dream. It's
been truly amazing. I can't thank you enough. It's by far
the best $60 I have ever spent on golf.

I want to congratulate you on the best
book I have ever read on the golf swing. I have read Hogan,
Toski, Ballard, Flick, McLean and too many others to mention.
Your book is so easy to understand and apply it's mind boggling.
I have read it twice since I received
it, and just making the grip change made quite an improvement
in my ball striking! I can tell you that I will start over
and follow the book step by step so that I will get the most
out of the book.

I have read the book, and I am trying
to put it into practice. Your e-mail tips are invaluable.
I have bought many videos, books, etc. This book is the best.
I keep improving, but not changing my entire swing everyday.
I have tried Natura Golf, you name it, and I've played to
as low as 10 with different method. I believe this is going
to make me the single digit I always dreamed of and next spring
I won't have to go out and reinvent the wheel. I want to be
a swing machine.
Thanks so much

Wanted to give you a bit of feedback
on how things are going since I bought your book. On arrival
of the book I was playing off a handicap of 5 (5.2 exact).
I found the grip section difficult to master at first but
having stuck with it is now beginning to feel natural. Competition
Golf has been very inconsistent but I've still managed to
reduce the handicap to 4 (4.2 exact).
It's difficult to master the correct
feelings when I'm playing so much at the moment, but this
Winter I intend to start again from scratch, read the book
in stages and try and break the whole thing down. I know I'm
capable of playing to 1-2 but inconsistency always strikes
when I'm under a little bit of pressure.
I would like to take this opportunity
to thank you for helping me with my golf and at some point
in the future would like to visit you in person and for you
to take a look.

Hi Paul and Ken,
At 72 years of age and having never
held a golf club until I was 60 (played a lot of tennis, though)
I found it necessary to take many lessons and eventually developed
a reasonable game and an Index Handicap of 15.2.
Never once did a teaching pro ever
suggest that my grip was incorrect and, on occasion, they
commented that I had a good grip. In all fairness, it probably
did appear correct to the observer. However, it most certainly
was not. I have worked diligently on the grip following your
instructions in the book for several weeks, sitting in front
of the TV with a seven iron (my wife's silence spoke volumes),
and it did eventually become "comfortable". Also,
I have worked through all the lessons and can say, unequivocally,
having a correct grip is the basis for the rest of the swing.
I have now a completely different outlook
to the golf swing. I have never experienced until recently
what it really feels like to strike the ball in a manner that
comes reasonably close to that of a tour professional. However
presumptuous that that might sound, it is nevertheless true.
This magnificently presented book is
only surpassed by its content.
Thank you,
John Bates

Paul, my son bought your book about
two months ago, and he has used it in coaching me to improve
my game. He is an accomplished golfer and had lessons from
Mark Evershed. In two months my swing has improved considerably,
and I wanted you to know it is wholly due to reading the book,
and following the simple drills. Thanks for your help, and
I look forward to your book on the short game.

Paul, I've had your book about a month
and I like it a lot. I've been especially working on the neutral
grip (my right hand has been way too strong) and swinging
with relaxed arms. The other day I shot 38 in my after work
nine hole golf league, and now everyone is mad at me for sandbagging.
I just told them, "Hey, it's called working on your game
not sandbagging!"
Thanks.

Swing Machine Golf is a great book.
I used it a little differently than you suggested, but, it
has been very helpful nonetheless.
I took a lesson from Craig Harmon at
the end of last season and another at the beginning of this
season. Craig's lessons helped me drop my scores from the
high 80s to the mid and low 80s.
The ideas in your book -- especially
the "three elements" -- helped me groove the fundamentals
that Craig has been teaching me. The combination of in-person
lessons from Craig and the instruction in your book has helped
me break 80 for the first time. I shot a 77 at my home course
(Bellevue Country Club, a Donald Ross course with a 130 slope)
two days ago and I've had 9-hole scores of 37, 37, and 38
within the past two weeks and have managed to drop my handicap
to 8.4, which compares rather nicely to the 15.3 with which
I began this year's golf season.
I'm sure you're aware of other students
who have combined what they've learned from your book with
what they've learned from a great teacher like Craig, but
I figured you'd be interested in my story all the same.
Keep up the great work Paul!
