Edouard Manet: Impressions of the sea
This summer the Van Gogh Museum is mounting a major international exhibition devoted to the sea views by Edouard Manet (1832–1883), the artist most often referred to as the father of Impressionism. This is the first time that he is featured as a marine painter.

L'Art Nouveau: The Bing empire
In cooperation with the Musée des Arts décoratifs in Paris, the Van Gogh Museum is organising an extensive exhibition devoted to the origins of French Art Nouveau seen from the perspective of Siegfried Bing (1838–1905), an art dealer and collector.

Beach life: sea and sand in the 19th century
The Van Gogh Museum is open every Friday evening until 10:00 pm. Stop in and look at the permanent collection and the exhibitions in peace and quite, have a bite to eat or something to drink in the museum restaurant, or take part in one of the following activities.

4 June
Ton Teerling will talk about his profession as a psychologist of scent and taste. He provided the Rossetti exhibition with subtle scents.
11 June
The conservators of the Van Gogh Museum will present their findings and discoveries; for instance, how artists often used both sides of their canvases or overpainted them.
18 June
A festive evening celebrating the opening of the opening of the Manet exhibition, with the seamen's choir the Noszélie Singers and herring treats. A lecture in English will be given by Manet expert Juliet Wilson-Bareau: Introduction to the Manet exhibition.
25 June
Inspired by Edouard Manet's Still life with fish, the entertaining chef Joop Braakhekke will dazzle us with his culinary talents. With life music by the 4Tuoze Matroze.
2 July
On the occasion of the exhibition Edouard Manet: Impressions of the sea, maritime photographer Bert Scheijgrond talks about his profession and show us his impressions of the sea.
9 July
Tour de France: Literature, art, poetry or philosophy? Maison Descartes presents a French evening. A guided tour of the most beautiful French works in the museum's permanent collection is scheduled.
16 July
Tour de France: Photography. Photographer Vincent van de Wijngaard followed Vincent van Gogh's geographical footsteps, about which he will give a visual report. In addition, there will be a tour of the most beautiful French works in the museum.
23 July
Tour de France: Wine tasting. Both the bicycle tour and Vincent's tour through France are discussed and sampled per wine region! In addition, there will be a tour of the most beautiful French works in the museum.
30 July
Former programme maker for the NOS broadcasting company and chairman of the Sailing Trophy Foundation (the Connie van Rietschoten Award) Frans van Dusschoten will talk about and show fragments from his TV series Maritime Netherlands.
6 August
Summer school Facets of Impressionism I: Manet and Impressionism in the Netherlands. Lecture by Benno Tempel, exhibition maker at the Kunsthal Rotterdam.
13 August
Summer school Facets of Impressionism II: Women of the street, a subject of Dutch Impressionism. Lecture by Benno Tempel, exhibition maker at the Kunsthal Rotterdam.
20 August
Summer school Facets of Impressionism III: The urban Impressionists Breitner and Israëls. Lecture by Teio Meedendorp, researcher at the Kröller-Müller Museum.
27 August
Summer school Facets of Impressionism IV: The technique of the ‘impression'. Lecture by Teio Meedendorp, researcher at the Kröller-Müller Museum.
