Southland has rugged, natural, unspoilt, green contrasting landscape. It is
a fertile place of farmland and forest, laced with sparkling clean waters and
small towns. Craggy mountains loom on the western and northern horizon and rugged
coastline forms the eastern and southern borders.
This is a region where you can see the following mammals and birds in their natural
habitat. The endangered Yellow Eyed Penguin, the Blue Penguin, the Hooker Sea Lion the
New Zealand Fur Seal and Dolphins.
