Challenge: With the added exposure of the Arena Football League (AFL) due to the AFL on NBC television agreement, the af2, the AFL’s developmental league, needed a site that could provide both af2 and AFL fans with information about the af2 – taking advantage of the increased exposure of the organization as a whole and working in concert with the AFL’s new online look and overall image. The af2 has 26 teams that it provides coverage, scores, and standings for. It also has many fans that follow their teams and want to read about the league on a daily basis.
Approach: RMG3 used the same basic graphical design and layout as arenafootball.com, but switched out colors, logos, and rearranged some basic elements so that it has the same exciting feel as arenafootball.com, but also has its own online presence. af2.com was built using RMG3’s 1Touch™ proprietary content management system, so that the af2 staff can update the site with articles, photo galleries, polls, and many other features. af2 fans also enjoy the benefits of message boards dedicated solely to the af2 and live scoring during games.
Results: The af2 is able to keep their fans up to speed with the latest happenings around the league, which fans love. Because the af2 does not get as much exposure elsewhere as the AFL, the site is a great place for fans to read up on their favorite teams. Traffic has increased since the relaunch of the site and the fans love the new look and amount of information available.
