University City Area Council-What You Missed

HERE'S WHAT YOU MISSED AT THE JULY 8 LUNCHEON

Presentation:  Mayor's Panel
Charlotte, Concord and Harrisburg Mayors

The panelists included Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory, Concord Mayor Scott Padgett and Harrisburg Mayor Pro-Tem Tom Huntley.  Scott Cooper of Lowe's Motor Speedway served as the moderator of the discussion.

The mayors spoke about issues affecting the greater Charlotte area and its surrounding localities, such as the mass transit system and the continued growth throughout the region.  The mayors affirmed their commitments to working together on projects to ensure more successful results.

The audience was urged to voice their opinions to the state legislature about funding for the mass transit system and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

The mayor's were asked about other cities after which the Charlotte mass transit system is being modeled.  Mayor McCrory responded that Charlotte is learning from both successful and unsuccessful models and focuses on cities in the Sunbelt with similar growth patterns to that of Charlotte.

This luncheon was sponsored by Barter Brokers International, Coldwell Banker United Realtors, Charlotte Area Transit System, First Citizens Bank, Shred-It and Copeland's of New Orleans.  A sold-out crowd of 100 people attended the luncheon.
