Advisory Committees

How to become an Advisory Committee Member

HOW DOES SOMEONE BECOME AN ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEMBER?

New members can be nominated and elected any time seats are available, and elections and nominations are advertised at least 14 days in advance. Advisory committee members must be representative of fish and wildlife user groups in the area, maintain a residence in the advisory committee area, and be an Alaskan resident of voting age.

Every voting-age, area resident in attendance at the meeting may vote during the election of advisory committee members. Whoever receives the most votes is elected. At least one committee member must be in attendance during an election.

All new and re-elected members must complete the New Member Form (see Appendix B) and mail it to the headquarters office of ADF&G; Boards Support Section; PO Box 25526; Juneau, AK 99802-5526 within 14 days after the election. After receiving this form, the headquarters staff will add the member's name to the mailing list. If the new member fails to send in the form, the election to the committee is void.
