Invasive Species in Alaska
Invasive species can dominate and destroy ecosystems creating irreversible
economic, cultural, and health damage. The Alaska Department of Fish
& Game is working to monitor and control further introduction and
spread of invasive species. Toward this end the department has developed
an "Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS) Management Plan" (see below). The
Murkowski Administration understands the dangers of invasive species
and fully supports the department's ANS program.
