The seed partnerships support channel will deliver a package of targeted services to the awardee partnerships.

A local partnership broker or mentor will be assigned to the nascent partnership and will work closely with the partners to assess their needs and, assisted by the seed partners, design the appropriate programme of services.

The programme will likely consist of a mixture of partnership-building services (such as improving governance procedures and partnership management, development of the business plan, assistance with fundraising etc.) and other ad-hoc services such as:

  • attendance or partners at workshops or meetings;
  • field trips to existing partnerships;
  • advancing cross-pollinization of innovative ideas, experiences and lessons learned in different parts of the world;
  • bringing in experts from similar successful partnerships operating elsewhere;
  • provision of partnership-awareness training to senior management within partner organizations;
  • holding a workshop to explain a partnership and get buy-in from the local population;
  • securing support of leaders from the relevant public authorities, businesses or industry, labour or any other civil society organization (the reputations of the seed partners may prove particularly effective here);
  • using the publicity of the seed awards and the networks of the seed partners to help leverage other resources to the process (e.g., pro bono consultant work from international consulting firms).
