History of Colona II
Norwegian born Freddy Storheil and his faithful yacht COLONA II have been around for over 20 years. "Around" can be taken literally as they have circumnavigated the world twice together.
Chartering started back in 1977 in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, with just one small hut on the beach for a dive school which is now a bustling dive resort. COLONA II was probably the first ever yacht to enable divers to take trips to Southern Egypt, Sudan, Yemen, and Djibouti as well as being the first to dive some of the now world famous dive sites.
Whilst undertaking his adventures Freddy has dived and sailed in places that would fill us all with envy: many of the Pacific islands, Maldives, Caribbean, Chagos, Red Sea etc. We are dealing with one experienced captain here!
Freddy, in the mean time has set up Colona Dive Club, a top quality dive center in Sharm El Sheikh which can offer all PADI courses as well as daytrips and liveaboards in the Northern Red Sea.
In 1993 he met his wife Kim and whilst visiting Thailand, her home country, he immediately fell in love with the place.
He sailed COLONA II here in 1995, and since then Kim and Freddy have been making sailing and diving trips. Many of their old guests as well as new ones have been taken to some of the finest places in the Andaman sea.
