Oval body with rounded head.
First dorsal fin is six short spines.

Temperature range:
21 - 33 Celsius (70 - 92 Fahrenheit).

Typical location:
On shallow sandy flats.
Around shallow reefs and wrecks.

Fishing methods:
Casting small lures.
Fly casting.
Bottom fishing over wrecks with shrimps or crabs.

Fighting characteristics:
Several fast runs and dives to the bottom where it rubs
its mouth against the sand to cut the line.
