Identification:
Upper body dark red or golden.
Lower body light red or golden with white edges on scales.
Large dorsal and anal fins that extends almost to the tail.
Hard mouth with long spiky teeth.
Temperature range:
10 - 21 Celsius (50 - 70 Fahrenheit).
Typical location:
Around wrecks, sea mounts and over soft coral reefs.
Fishing methods:
Bottom fishing from anchor with live or dead prawns and squid.
Bottom fishing with pieces of tuna, scad, mackerel or sardine.
Fighting characteristics:
A good fighter that never gives up.
