San Francisco Restaurants
America is notorious for its proliferation of fast food and nearly interchangeable chain restaurants. You will find them all in San Francisco, but you will also find some deliciously unusual places that range from traditional ethnic cuisine to some creative fusions of some of the world's best tastes.
Downtown, surrounding Union Square, you will find Scala's Bistro with its Mediterranean menu. Prefer a taste of Asia? You can't go wrong with Ponzu for a contemporary flair, Hana Zen Yakitori and Sushi Bar for traditional sushi, or Anzu for an east meets west blend of oriental and old-fashioned western steak house. Millennium caters to vegetarians and Kuletos is a bustling trattoria right on the Square.
The restaurants around the ballpark in the South of Market district seem to echo the sentiments of America's pastime. That's not to say that you won't find a few exotic dishes here, but the focus is on traditional American food. Acme Chophouse, Town Hall, Annabelle's Bar and Bistro and the ThirstyBear Brewing Company (which servers delicious Spanish Food) are all in the neighborhood and worth a look.
