Charming and tranquil and close to the city center, the Parioli Nomentano area is one of the most loved by Romans. Great 19th century buildings, wonderful parks and gardens full of history, such as Villa Torlonia, Villa Ada and Villa Borghese with its famous gallery.

Villa Torlonia: building work began by G. Valadier in 1802. It became part of the public parks in 1978. Beneath the park, there are Jewish catacombs made up of two cemeteries which date back to the 3rd and 4th centuries. The walls are decorated with ornate Hebraic paintings and symbols. It could be considered as the last of the great princely villas, because it was totally renovated during the 19th century by the Torlonias (a rich family of bankers), in order to compete with similar properties of the noble ancient Roman families. After G. Valadier, the architects working on its reconstruction were: Caretti (main building), Raimondi (theater) and G. Jappelli (garden).
