Dodge City, Kansas is an historic place with a wild and infamous past. Its heritage as an old West cow town and home to figures like Doc Holiday and Wyatt Earp is preserved to this day.
Over a weekend stay in Dodge City, you can walk the streets of Boot Hill,
visit historic Fort Dodge and experience the city's history through a walking
tour or by trolley.
Dodge City also features more contemporary attractions like the Carnaige
Art Museum, a USBL basketball team, auto racing, and more
Boot Hill, Dodge City's most famous attraction is only a couple of blocks downhill from the Inn and within easy walking distance.
The old and famous Great Western Hotel is now the home of the Boot Hill Museum and Cemetery and is a good place to start.
After leaving the museum, it's a great time to visit Front Street, now the home to dozens of interesting shops and specialty stores.
This store features custom portraits, crafts and western wear.
Don't forget to have a portrait made to commemorate your stay in Dodge City. At The Old Dodge Photo Parlor located within Troy's Photography at 214 1/2 S. This store is known for fine leather goods, western themed oil paintings and sculpture, handcrafted luggage, and more.
Downtown Dodge City also has several fine dining establishments like Mic-Leo's Cafe. Don't forget to look at all the historic black and white photos while you are there.
Casey's Cowtown Steakhouse is one of the best places in Kansas to sample a Black Angus steak and grab a beer two.
After you have finished shopping for the day, you can hop a stage coach for an easy and fun way to see more of the city's historic places.

Another great way to get around Dodge City is the trolley. Catch it from the Visitor's Center which is located right downtown off Front Street.
While we are on the subject of transportation, did you know a great way to get to Dodge City is by train? The Amtrak continues service straight to the city. Round-trip fairs from places like Kansas City can be as low as $75 dollars with a little planning. Click here to vis it Amtrak's Website.
