More customization options for WebSearch
In response to publisher suggestions, we've added new options for your WebSearch box. Your Search code page now provides the ability to customize the search box layout to better fit your page. You can specify the length of the text box, its background color, and the positioning of the Google logo and Search button.
As an AdSense publisher, you automatically get access to Google WebSearch. To activate WebSearch simply go to your Account Information page and click on the Products link. Edit your Product settings to include WebSearch and a new top-level tab will appear for Search Settings.
New reports column: effective CPM
To help you track your earnings across channels and against other advertising mediums, we've added an "effective CPM" column to your reports. Effective CPM is the "cost per thousand impressions" - for publishers, this number is calculated by dividing total earnings by the page impressions in thousands. For example, a publisher earning $180 from 45,000 impressions would have an effective CPM of $180/45, or $4.00. Effective CPM is a commonly used metric in the advertising industry, and can help you compare your AdSense earnings to earnings from other types of advertising.
Reminder! Preview the ads that will appear on your pages
A few weeks ago, we released the AdSense preview tool to publishers, as a way to preview ads on web pages, see what users from other geographic locations are seeing on your pages, and click through to advertiser sites without generating invalid clicks. The preview tool is available for Windows users running Internet Explorer 5.x and above.
We'd like to once again point you to the download link and information, and encourage you to try out this exciting new tool. Click here for more information.
