New Airport Concourse Opens:
Hailing Alaska's leap into the 21st century of commercial air travel, Gov. Frank Murkowski helped open the new Concourse C at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport on June 29. The governor said the ultra-modern 447,000 square foot facility demonstrates how important Alaska's transportation system is to the world, and how important travel is to Alaskans. Murkowski spoke before dignitaries Sen. Ted Stevens, Rep. Don Young, U.S. Transporation Secretary Norm Mineta, Airport Director Mort Plumb and many hundreds of Alaskans eager to experience the new concourse.
