JUNE 2004

Gabarone, Botswana, and Moputu, Mozambique: Join Mary Wilson's travels through Southern Africa to exchange messages of hope with young people there, including those living with HIV/AIDS.

On June 8-9, she jammed with the Musicians' Association in Maputo, Mozambique and spoke to both an elementary school and a high school. She even sang at the Gil Vicente Club, a popular local cafe, one evening. From June 10-12, Ms. Wilson traveled to Gaborone, Botswana.

Jay Snyder, Commissioner, U. S. Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy joined the CultureConnect delegation. Mr. Snyder donated $10,000 to an important center for treating children with AIDS in Maputo. Mary Wilson represents CultureConnect at International Education Week event at U.S. Department of State. Mary Wilson brought home her role as CultureConnect Ambassador on Tuesday, November 18, 2003, at the Educational and Cultural Affairs Exchange Fair at the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C. Richard L. Armitage, Deputy Secretary of State, was present and spoke about the importance of educational exchange. Learn more!
