Mauna Loa is growing restless
Since July, an increasing number of earthquakes -- more than 350 -- have been recorded deep beneath the summit caldera of Earth's largest active volcano. Mauna Loa has also been swelling for two years, suggesting magma is filling the chamber inside.
While scientists at Hawaiian Volcano Observatory caution that an eruption does not appear imminent, they said the geologic activity indicates the process is now moving in that direction. Full Story » |
