When Oscar De La Hoya and Bernard Hopkins square off, the winner can lay claim to being the best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet. Four middleweight belts are on the line when the most anticipated fight of the year hits MGM Grand's Grand Garden Arena on September 18.

Boxing's golden boy Oscar De La Hoya (38-3, 29 KOs) began his career with an Olympic Gold Medal and has since risen through boxing's weight classes to become one of the most storied champions in the sport's history.

Bernard "The Executioner" Hopkins (44-2-1, 31 KOs) ranks as one of boxing's most intimidating champs. He currently holds all three major middleweight belts—the WBC, WBA, and IBF titles—and hasn't lost in 11 years.

This dream bout was set up when both fighters scored victories on the same card here at MGM Grand in June. De La Hoya earned a tough decision to take the WBO middleweight title from Felix Strum. The victory came in De La Hoya's first fight as a middleweight, and means that the living legend has now won titles in six different divisions.

While De La Hoya eked out a victory against Strum, Hopkins took care of business in decisive fashion, pounding top-ranked IBF contender Robert Allen to make his 18th-straight successful title defense, extending his own record-setting streak.
