who will serve as the front line in interfacing and dealing with About.com users and
guides.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide support for About.com customer base and About.com Guide base
- Identify, troubleshoot, research, support and resolve customer issues
- Escalate issues to appropriate technical personnel when necessary
- Perform technical support remotely from centralized facility using remote control tools
- Provide first level support for internal tools and best effort support for all
application
Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years technical support experience or related College degree
- Superior customer service skills
- Working knowledge of Internet technologies such as: html, form submission, cgi.

Technology Positions
Associate HTML Producer
We are actively seeking an Associate HTML Producer in our NYC office to join our
development team. The Associate HTML Producer will design, develop and implement
well-structured and compact HTML and templates for the About.com network by working with
XML, XSLT and proprietary About technologies in an open-source UNIX centric environment.
They will also assist with scoping new requirements and page functionality as About.com
evolves its current design.
Required Qualifications:
- Thorough knowledge of HTML and proficiency in XML and XSLT, as well as relevant browser technologies
- Solid HTML hand coding skills with ability to build clean, functional, optimized web pages and user interfaces
- Experience with JavaScript and CSS, any SQL a plus
- UNIX user skills
- Ability to test own work
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Familiarity working with both technical and non-technical team members in a cooperative environment
Demonstrated ability to learn and work in a non-structured environment
- Understanding of scalability issues as it applies to both technical and human resources
- Understanding of Internet based technologies

About.com is seeking a smart self-starter who is able to handle multiple tasks to fill
the role of Editor in our New York City headquarters. The About.com network
consists of hundreds of sites that offer nearly 1 million articles covering more than
50,000 subjects. Each site is run by a professional Guide who is carefully screened and
trained by About. Guides build a comprehensive environment around each of their specific
topics, including the best new content, relevant links, How-To's, Forums, and answers to
just about any question.
The primary responsibility of the Editor will be to fulfill the editorial mission of
About.com while improving content quality and audience retention on the About.com
Arts & Entertainment, Health, Jobs & Careers, and People & Relationships channels.
Editors work with About.com Guides and staff to provide practical solutions to every day
problems facing About's millions of readers across a wide variety of topics and interests.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Review About.com GuideSite content to judge quality of user experience
- Work with Guides and staff to improve audience metrics including frequency and duration
- Create and implement editorial calendars for effective creation and promotion of content
- Identify future trends and gaps in coverage in current taxonomy; recommend new GuideSites or potential content partnerships
- Work with product teams to integrate third-party content
- Work with Ad Sales team to coordinate advertorial content needs
- Track metrics that demonstrate improvements in content quality (uniques, user
frequency / duration)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 2-3 years experience creating or managing online content, preferably in one or more of the following topic areas: Arts & Entertainment, Health, Jobs & Careers, or People & Relationships
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong online communication skills via email, forums and other methods
- Ability to mutli-task in a fast paced environment and familiarize yourself with new topics quickly

About.com is currently seeking to hire a Product Manager for Sales Products to work primarily with our sales and accounting teams on implementing revenue support systems on the About.com service. The selected candidate will be responsible for defining business rules, creating product specifications, implementing products and managing product offerings to meet sales goals and requests.
Representative Responsibilities Include:
- Design and develop sales products in conjunction with sales team input
- Establish business rules for sales/product offerings
- Documentation and training for all sales products
- Accountable for end-to-end delivery of sales products
- Working with development managers and technical leads for required component functionality and delivery dates
- Working with other departments for supporting activities and deliverables
Requirements:
- 3+ years online business experience with an emphasis in product management
- 2+ years online business experience with an emphasis in sales and/or marketing
- Experience creating products and managing the complete product cycle -- from conception to launch
- Demonstrated ability to provide creative leadership in the design and development of products
- Must have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills with ability to effectively manage across multiple departments/personalities
- Must be detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and possess strong ability to work independently
- Must be able to manage multiple priorities and projects
