"My
Web Browser seems to be running slower than it
had before. Is something wrong with the server,
or is there a way that I can change it and make
it as fast as before?"
Sometimes,
when you have been fishing the World Wide Web
for a long time, your computer will have its cache
memory full. To bring your browser back to its
speed, you will simply need to clear the cache
memory. To do this, do the following:
Select Options at the top of the
screen. This will open up a drop-down menu, and
among the choices will be Network Preferences.
Selecting this command will bring
up the above window. Click on the Cache tab and
do the following:
The two buttons on the right of the
screen, "Clear Cache Memory Now" and
"Clear Disk Cache Now" determine whether
you want to expunge the cache memory of your system.
To have your web browser run at optimum speed
again, click on Clear Memory Cache Now. After
clicking this button, you will be asked if you
would like to continue. Choose Yes. Do the same
for the other button, and then click on OK at
the bottom of the window. You should be able to
see a noticeable difference in the performance
of your web browser.

"Sometimes,
without anything I am doing, there appears at
the bottom of the screen a message saying 'Cleaning
up Cache' and then 'Removing Files'. Now that
I know what Cache memory is, what does this
mean?
Are important files being deleted from my system?"
If you do not clean out the cache
memory yourself (see above), then your computer
will do it for you when the cache level is full.
When your computer tells you that it is 'Removing
Files', this simply means that the old websites
and information stored in the cache are being
dumped to make room for newer or more frequently
accessed ones.
