QuickTime Player QuickTime Pro Streaming Server Broadcaster

Welcome to QuickTime Streaming Server, the streaming media server that combines industrial strength performance with engaging ease of use.

Whether your website delivers product information, entertainment, corporate communications or distance-learning, you can make it stand out by serving up video and audio streams. Featuring QuickTime Streaming Server 5, Mac OS X Server v10.3 lets you accomplish this task with ease, power and flexibility — without additional licensing fees.

Using the open source, standards-based Real-Time Transport Protocol/Real-Time Streaming Protocol (RTP/RTSP) engine, QuickTime Streaming Server lets you deliver live or prerecorded content in real time over the Internet. With either kind of broadcast, your content begins to play as soon its link is clicked; there’s no waiting for the file to download.

Support for industry standards
The premier technology for creating, playing and delivering digital media over the Internet, QuickTime fully supports the latest global multimedia standards, including MPEG-4 and 3GPP. Likewise, QuickTime Streaming Server provides native support for streaming MPEG-4 and 3GPP files — so your content runs on any standards-compliant media player on Mac, Windows and Linux operating systems. It also lets you serve standard MP3 files using Icecast-compatible protocols over HTTP to any MP3 client. With QuickTime Streaming Server, you can be sure that you reach the widest audience possible.

Media Playlist

Streaming made easy
Mac OS X Server v10.3 now makes managing your media content and preparing it for streaming a snap with QuickTime Streaming Server Publisher. QuickTime movies(.mov) and MPEG-4 (.mp4) files intended for streaming need to be hinted — that is, given hint tracks that contain information about transmission packet size and protocol so that QuickTime Streaming Server delivers your movie smoothly and reliably. QuickTime Streaming Server Publisher hints your media files automatically.

Web Page Creation With an intuitive interface similar to that of iTunes, QTSS Publisher also lets you create playlists of QuickTime movies, MPEG-4, and MP3 files that can be set to play back in order or at random. You can even add items to your playlist on the fly without interrupting the stream. Posting your content to your website is a breeze, too, because QTSS Publisher has one-click web page creation with templates.

OS X Server v10.3 Ready to Go
QuickTime Streaming Server 5 is built into Mac OS X Server and optimized for the Power Mac G5. Serve live, simulated live, and on-demand audio and video with this powerful combination.
