How does the fortune teller work?

First of all, the fortune teller animation takes a while
to download. If it doesn't work at first, just wait for all the pictures
to download and then try it. If you're having trouble viewing our
animation, try hitting the Reload/Refresh button at the top of your
browser while holding down the shift key on your keyboard.

The fortune teller will always answer the same way to
the same question. You'll have to rephrase it if you want to ask again.

The fortune teller only answers yes-or-no questions
about the future, like, "Will I do something?" or "Will so-and-so
do something?". Asking the fortune teller questions about the past
or the present, like, "Is it raining right now?" will only irritate
her and cause her to give incorrect answers.

The fortune teller is not a real person. It is a computer
program, and not a very sophisticated one. There's been some confusion
about that point, believe it or not! SmartGirl.org believes that anyone
can do anything, so reach for the stars!
