Holly and Jason Cassel caught 1 big mahi and 2 onos and some aku and shibi
We got underway at 5:00 on this day of 20 mph trades going outside looking for ahi, on the way we hooked a big 43 pound mahi and Jason did a great job on it. We went out 30 miles then headed back in and at the CO buoy we got a few small aku and shibi. When we got onto the ledge we took a triple ono and got 2 of them. Back in the harbor Jason was a little hesitant but he did eat a shibi eyeball. These folks did real well for how rough the seas were today, good going. Aloha Capt Rusty

The Cordy Family Max, Joanne, Jerry, Jackie, and Ben caught a 400 pound marlin 1 ono and a bunch of aku and shibi for a great day
We left the harbor at 5:30 on this day of 20+ mph trades going to my next favorite buoy. On our way we got a nice 25 pound ono. At the bouy we ran some live baits and caught plenty of aku and shibi, lots of the aku were in the 7-10 pound range, and one was even 20 pounds. On our way in we hooked up to a big marlin that never jumped once but took out 600 yards of line fast. Jerry had it back to where we could see it in about half an hour, then it took another 2 hours or so to get it to come the rest of the way to the boat. It was big and just did not want to come and you don't argue with fish this big, it just takes time. When it did come up it was relatively easy at gaff. Jerry did a super job angeling on this fish. These folks did a great job all the way around, they get 2 thumbs up, Aloha Capt Rusty

Doug Wenzel Caught 1 marlin, 3 mahi and lots of aku and shibi for a fun day
We got going at 5:30 on this day of 20 mph trades going to my next favorite buoy. At the buoy we got some small aku and ran them live. The aku are getting bigger it takes a while to get one small enough to use as a bait. No takers on our baits. On our way in we hooked a nice 107 pound marlin and Doug made quick work of it, getting it to the boat in20 minutes even though it took out 300 yards of line. Then we found some mahi and Scot baited up 3, two small one and one big one.In the harbor Doug did not want the marlin eyeball but did eat one out of a shibi. Doug is an avid fisherman, and it was evident he did a great job on all these fish. He was a real pleasure to fish with, good going. Aloha Capt Rusty

Dennis and Holley West, Karen and John Curnal caught a 225 pound marlin and 1 mahi and a bunch of aku and shibi
We got going at 5:00 on this day of 15 mph trades headed for my next favorite buoy. On the way there we hooked up our marlin that proceded to take 600 yards of line out jumping a lot. Dennis was the angler and he had this fish to the boat in about 25 minutes, of hard reeling. It gave us a little bit of a hard time at gaff but we got it. At the buoy we got some aku and ran them live, no takers. We got some 10 pound aku and shibi on the light lines. On our way in we took an ono hit but it came off. We got a 17 pound mahi just outside the harbor. These folks did real well on all these fish. Aloha Capt Rusty

Joe Gossman, April Ankeney, Cliff Shaw, and Patrick Koren caught 2 big mahi and some aku and shibi
We got underway at 5:30 on this day of 25 mph trades going to my next favorite buoy. On the way we hooked a mahi and Patrick reeled it in. Then we found an open school and hooked one more a 33 pounder that Joe reeled in. At the buoy we got some aku and shibi and ran 2 aku live. The aku and shibi were biteing good today. The ono action of the days before had vanished, every day is different out here. No hits on the way in. In the harbor all the guys ate eyeballs out of shibi and akus, I like it. These guys did great today, they were fun to fish with folks. Aloha Capt Rusty

Ciaran and Scott Madden caught 8 onos for some fun
We got going at 5:30 on this day of 25 mph trades going to where the onos are now. We had 2 in the bag before 7 am, then it was a while before we took another hit, and got it. We got all of our hits except the next to the last one, all one at a time no multiples like yesterday. These guys were great, they handeled the rough water and caught all these onos. In the harbor they both were game to eat an eyeball out of an ono. And by the way Ciaran caught the biggest one, good going. Aloha Capt Rusty

Lyle and Keoki Kawakami caught one big mahi and some aku and 2 small shibi
We got going at 4:00 on this day of 20+ mph trades going to my next favorite buoy. At the buoy we got some small aku and ran them live, after a while a big 33 pound mahi came along and decided that one of our akus looked good enough to eat and he swallowed it deep, with some help from Scot. Lyle made quick work of that big boy. Then we got some more aku and no big shibi. On the way in we had a big mahi grab the purple soft head, jump and come off, bummer. In the harbor both Lyle and Keoki were ever so slightly reluctant but eventually they both ate fish eyeballs, good going men. These guys did great in the rough water we had today. Aloha Capt Rusty
