Some material on the SmartGirl site is inappropriate for young children. We do our best to remove any material that is inappropriate for teens.

But we can't make any promises.

It is impossible for SmartGirl to police the site on a constant basis. No matter how hard we try, some words and inappropriate material may still make it on to the site.

What we can do:

SmartGirl members are asked not to give out their addresses, e-mail addresses, or passwords online.

What about free speech?

SmartGirl polled many teens before launching the site. SmartGirl believes that there are times when it is necessary for some girls and young women to use powerful words. Because we want girls to discuss powerful topics freely, we have decided not to outlaw any specific terms or topics on the love affairs section, the bulletin boards, or the chat environments. However, we believe that powerful terms are to be reserved for powerful messages and not used lightly. In cases where powerful words are being abused, we reserve the right to edit the submission. Participants should know that they can be kicked off the site for inappropriate use of strong language or for other reasons.
