DAN's Continuing Medical Education staff strives to assist physicians and other healthcare providers in obtaining new information that will lead to better quality and availability of care to the diving community worldwide. The internationally recognized resources of the Divers Alert Network (DAN) and its affiliation with the world renowned Duke University Health System provide cutting-edge medical and research information. This, or course, directly supports a portion of DAN's mission:
"...DAN promotes and supports underwater diving research and education, particularly as it relates to the improvement of diving safety, medical treatment and first aid...."
DAN's CME provides "full-service" with regard to the educational activities it develops. Having hosted the "DAN Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine" course worldwide for the past 15 years, the staff is in touch with all aspects of travel, housing, and providing for the attendees comfort during these courses. We understand that these trips with DAN can sometimes be the "trip of the year" for some attendees. So, we want to make sure that everything goes smoothly from the time the first information call is made until the last "see you next year" is said. DAN CME in equipped to handle everything and we are always looking to improve our service.
Plans for the Future
DAN's CME program is continually growing. Educational programming has increased 125% in the past year and has included the first HBO course taught in Spanish. The educational mission will expand to more members of the diving community -- both physicians and non-physicians -- and focus on providing information that will lead to better quality and availability of care to the diving community.
