Desert Mob Marketplace - In association with Arts NT's new Indigenous Arts Development Unit, the Alice Springs Cultural Precinct presented a new and exciting event for 2004 – Desert Mob Marketplace on Saturday 4 September. A prelude to the Desert Mob exhibition opening, an estimated 800 people attended throughout the afternoon with in excess of $43,000 worth of works sold. Whilst record sales have again accompanied the launch of the 14th annual Desert Mob art exhibition at the Araluen Galleries in Alice Springs on Sunday, 5 September. [More]

Australia's richest Indigenous art prize, the Telstra National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art Award, was presented on 13 August to Gulumbu Yunupingu. The coveted $40,000 Telstra First Prize was announced by Mr Geoff Booth, Regional Managing Director, Telstra Country Wide, at the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory in Darwin for the work titled Garak, the Universe. Home Territory 2010
On Thursday 19 August 2004, John Ah Kit, the Minister for Housing delivered his new vision for housing through a Ministerial Statement (pdf 48Kb) on Home Territory 2010. This Strategy provides a strategic new direction for housing and related infrastructure. The primary goal of the Strategy is to provide safe, secure and affordable housing for all Territorians.

Arts NT, in conjunction with the Office of Senior Territorians and the Government House Foundation, is pleased to call for entries to the 2004 Portrait of a Senior Territorian Art Award. This year's Award is being held from 1-12 November 2004 in Parliament House, Darwin. [More]
