Welcome everybody to our Pacific Islands Radio Stations for your free listening to our beautiful Pacific Island music, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! Wherever you may be, please make yourself feel at home, sit back, relax, and enjoy listening to the soothing, melodious, enchanting and exciting sounds of Pacific Island music. Music fulfills a need to communicate. It gives expression to thoughts, ideas, beliefs and moods. It connects us with our past and in doing so it arouses feelings of joy, sorrow, excitement and serenity. Music is a language that reminds us of memorable moments in our lives. Let us hope that we experience all these wonderful things and much more in our Pacific Island music.

Pacific Islands Radio has been introduced in order to facilitate the promotion of island music to a worldwide audience. This was undertaken as a consequence of a foreseen need to allow the musical component of island heritage to be made available to a wider audience.

The early music of Oceania (Melanesia, Micronesia and Polynesia) was composed of rhythm instruments and vocals; they comprise mainly chants without any harmonic structure and without any oriental or occidental influence. This early music was very fundamental although some islands did use flutes and drums to accompany their singing.

As there was no written language to record the history of the Pacific Islands, it was our beautiful island music that provided one essential record of our heritage and this was passed from generation to generation. Besides the tales of migration and wars, the daily life of our people was chronicled in our music.

The music played on Pacific Islands Radio has authentic examples of both the contemporary and traditional forms of island music from the low atolls like Kiribati, the Marshall Islands, Tokelau and Tuvalu to the volcanic peaks of islands like Samoa, Tahiti and Hawai'i as well as the mountain ranges of New Zealand, Cook Islands, Tonga, Easter Island, the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea and Fiji along with the Federated States of Micronesia (Pohnpei, Kosrae, Chuuk and Yap), Palau, Guam and Saipan. In addition, some more unique and beautiful music from the Caroline Islands and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands including Guam as well as the Republic of Nauru is in the process of being incorporated into the Playlists.

The music comprises traditional chants of our gods, ancestors and mythology, Gospel Music, the day-to-day music including songs about the beauty of the sunrise, the sunset, the islands and the people, not to mention the uniquely beautiful love songs with their haunting lyrics and melodies.

Pacific Islands Radio is dedicated to promoting our beautiful island music and our talented artists to the world 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I should perhaps mention that we have at present four Radio Stations, the first being Pacific Islands Radio FM mp3PRO Stereo (FM 32 kbps) as well as Pacific Islands Radio 33K (24 kbps) and Pacific Islands Radio 28K (16 kbps )in order to allow our listeners the option of selecting the station of their own choice. The fourth Radio Station is Micronesia Music Radio 33K (24 kbps) which features original, rare, traditional and contemporary music from Micronesia. Further specialized Pacific Islands Radio Stations featuring exclusively Polynesian and also Melanesian music will be going online shortly.

Thank you and Best Wishes
My Wish
by Jane Resture
The frigate bird
The flying fish
It is time for us
To make a wish

And I wish for the sunrise
To be beautiful each time
With days that are perfect
And nights so sublime

And I wish for the sunset
To be like a long red sail
Each and every day
And you and I will always stay
Whatever we wish
Will surely come true
And I wish for happiness
For me and you

And I wish for the world
To live in peace
To live and love as one
To a simple beat

And I wish for us all
To have our lives full of love
Full of joy and happiness
And eternal love
