Adding Music to a Slideshow

If you want to include music in your slideshow, QuickTime Pro also allows you to import a variety of sound files including your favorite MP3 files.

You'll need to have a slideshow movie handy for this tutorial. See the slideshow tutorial for more information.

Here’s how to get started in just a few, easy steps:

Step 2
From the File menu, select the Import command. A “Convert” dialog box will appear. Locate and select the music file you would like to use then click the Convert button.

Make sure the length of the music you are adding is similiar in length to your slideshow. In our example, the length of our slideshow is about 39 seconds so we'll add a musical score that's also about 39 seconds long.

Step 3
Once your music file is open, go to the Edit menu and choose the Select All command.

Next, select the Copy command from the Edit menu. This will copy the entire song into memory for adding to your slideshow.

Step 4
Select your slideshow. While holding the Option key (Mac) or Ctrl and Alt Keys (Windows) on the keyboard, go to the Edit menu and select the Add command.

(In the Edit menu, the item normally labeled Paste changes to Add when holding the Option or Ctrl and Alt key.)

Click on the image to see the slideshow.
Step 4
Select Save from the File menu. A “Save” dialog box will appear. Enter the name of your slideshow in the “New file name” box. Next, select the radio button labeled “Make movie self-contained” and then click the Save button.

Congratulations! You’ve now successfully created your very own musical slideshow using the power and flexibility of QuickTime Pro!

To view the results, simply press the Play button in the QuickTime Player.
