:: INTRODUCTION
The Datai, situated on the north-western tip of the pristine Malaysian island of Langkawi, provides an idyllic natural retreat within the depths of a centuries-old virgin rainforest. Set above a secluded cove, the resort has its own white sand beach facing the peaceful Andaman sea. Free-standing villas crafted from local materials are scattered throughout the forest and are connected to the resort’s central areas by a series of pathways.

• Private Beach and Watersports Pavillion
The Datai’s private white sand beach is the perfect place to sit and soak up some sun while enjoying the crystal-clear azure waters of the Andaman Sea. The Watersports Pavillion provides a host of activities including snorkelling, sailing (on catamarans and hobie cats) windsurfing and paddle boarding. Boat charters for deep-sea fishing and scuba diving can also be arranged.
• Pools*
The Datai boasts not one but two swimming pools. The larger of the two rectangular pools is elevated among the forest canopy, with stunning views through the tree tops to the sea below. It is surrounded by a spacious terrace with comfortable sun-loungers and attractive umbrellas. The other pool, similar in design, is located down near the beach for those who wish to enjoy refreshing sea breezes.
• Health Club
The Datai Health Club is available for guests’ use at no extra charge. Its facilities include a ladies’ and men’s sauna and hot and cold plunge pools, a fully-equipped gymnasium and juice bar.
• Tennis Courts
Two flood-lit tennis courts, rackets and balls are available on a complimentary basis. A tennis pro will be available for lessons.

*The Datai has two swimming pools, one in the main building and the other at the beach. The pool at the main building is meant for adults. Children 16 years and below are only allowed to swim at the beach pool.

:: ROOM AMENITIES
Accommodation at The Datai consists of 54 deluxe rooms, 40 villas and 18 suites. All have spectacular views of the natural landscape from the verandahs.
The deluxe rooms feature a combined bedroom and living area with balcony furnished with a king-size bed, private bar, a writing desk and two comfortable day beds. The spacious bathroom and dressing room feature twin vanities, bathtub and shower.
The individual free-standing villas are built high up in the tropical rainforest, connected to public facilities by a series of pathways scattered throughout the forest. They feature a private deck with sun lounges and an elevated verandah which can be used for private dining.
The corner and end suites include a spacious bedroom with en suite bath, a large bedroom and separate living area with dining table. All suites open out to a spacious balcony. All villas and suites have personal BOSE sound systems.
The Datai Suite has two bedrooms, an expansive living room with separate dining area along with a fully equipped kitchen. Surrounded by a large balcony finished in sandstone, it provides panoramic ocean views.
Pool villas have all the features of villas plus a private deck with daybed and 3 metre x 4 metre plunge pool.
The Datai’s four Pool Suites are located down near the beach next to the Beach Club. Every two suites share a living and dining area linked by covered walk-way, where there is also a fitted kitchen. It is necessary to reserve two pool suites in order to enjoy privacy in this area. The four suites which also feature a private swimming pool for the use only by Pool Suites guest, are ideal for families or two couples.
