During your stay in the city check out Nob Hill. There you'll find some of the finest hotels in San Francisco, built where many gold rush millionaires lost their mansions in the earthquake of 1906. Other places you might enjoy visiting while staying in the San Francisco area are Oakland, San Jose, or check out the birth of the '60's protest movement at Berkeley. Try going up to Haight Ashbury, another favourite hippie hang out. When travelling around the city grab a good pair of walking shoes and leave your car at your San Francisco hotel so you don't have to worry about it rolling down the incredibly steep streets.
Golden Gate Park a great place to go strolling, especially on a Sunday when many of the streets are closed, and it's the place to check out museums in the eastern section of the park.
