Southwest Florida has gained world-wide recognition for its exceptional saltwater fishing, but the outstanding freshwater fishing has not yet captured the widespread attention of our visitors. Local residents are in on the secret, however; we have three very active freshwater clubs here in Collier County. Tournaments are a common focus of all of these clubs. And, although the state of Florida is well-known for its bass fishing, there are many other species which are targeted and caught on a regular basis. Good freshwater fishing can be found in lakes throughout southwest Florida, as well as in other places such as ponds, canals and creeks.
