Professional Development Resource Center: A Window On Opportunity, A Gateway To AlumniSIT's Professional Development and Resource Center is a resource for career planning, job searching and networking. Each year, it posts thousands of jobs and internship announcements in fields from teaching, training and educational administration to development, management, business services, peacebuilding and advocacy. The center works closely with students, organizations, educational institutions, corporations and SIT alumni to develop internship, practicum and employment opportunities. The center's counseling staff provides résumé and cover letter review and interview coaching to both on-campus students and alumni and conducts regular workshops on a variety of subjects including résumé development, interviewing and job search strategies. The center also hosts SIT Alumnet, a listserv that makes it possible for on- and off-campus students and alumni to receive worldwide job postings. SIT alumni are a rich source of professional support, knowledge and contacts in the field. Informational interviews with alumni can provide students with significant insight into working in specific organizations or sectors. Alumnet is open to current students and alumni, who use it to stay abreast of the latest developments in their field, conduct job searches, assess target job markets and obtain peer support. |
