Travel to Japan
These discussions are part of our periodic, strategic policy dialogue with our close ally Japan on issues of common concern. Similar meetings were last held in June in Washington and in February in Tokyo. These discussions provide an important opportunity to address a variety of topics, including U.S.-Japan security relations, UN reform, Iraq, North Korea, and other issues of regional and global concern. While in Tokyo, the Deputy Secretary participated in part of the third meeting of the Donors' Committee of the International Reconstruction Fund Facility for Iraq (IRFFI) -- the UN and World Bank trust funds -- which will be occurring in Tokyo at the time of the Deputy Secretary's visit.
