Tracy McGrady always liked sports. Born in Bartow, Florida, he began his sports journey like many American boys: with Little League Baseball. Through his junior year in high school, when he played in varsity basketball games, he also played baseball. But it was the prestigious Adidas ABCD summer basketball camp that provided a turning point for Mr. McGrady's career.

He transferred to Mt. Zion Christian Academy in Durham, North Carolina for his final year in high school. He led his team to a 20-1 record and was named by USA Today as #2 in America among his peers. He was also named "Player of the Year" by both USA Today and the State of North Carolina and was a member of McDonald's All-American Team.

Straight out of high school, he was on his way to the NBA. The Toronto Raptors drafted him in the first round of the 1997 NBA draft, then traded him to the Orlando Magic in 2000. In June 2004, Tracy McGrady joined the Houston Rockets to cheering fans.

Mr. McGrady continues to be one of the most popular basketball players among youth worldwide. In 2003, he was named to the All-NBA First Team and led the league in scoring and minutes played. He started for the Eastern Conference at the 2003 NBA All-Star Game and finished fourth in voting for the NBA Most Valuable Player.

He started and played in 74 games (starting in 75) for the Orlando Magic, and, as one of the top players in the NBA, Mr. McGrady also became the youngest player since the 1976-77 merger of the National Basketball League and American Basketball League to average over 30 points per game.

In both the 2001-2002 and 2002-2003 seasons, Tracy McGrady was picked for the All-NBA First Team.
