The
name Manitoba comes from the Cree words "Manitou bou," which
mean "the narrows of the Great Spirit."

Manitoba
is in the heart of Canada. It is renowned for dramatic landscapes, cultural
tradition with warm and friendly people. Recognized as the land of 100
000 lakes, a legacy of enormous Lake Agassiz, which covered much of the
province after the glaciers retreated. Manitoba is one of the sunniest
provinces in Canada. Two-thirds of Canada's 500-plus species of birds
come here, drawn here by the waters. Manitoba is a premier wildlife-watching
destination with among the highest densities of moose, elk and black bear.
Over 29,000 square kilometres (11,000 square miles!) of widely varying
parklands are ready for exploring. For those seeking the outdoor lifestyle,
you'll find facilities ranging from near-wilderness sites, camp along
riverbanks used as resting places for thousands of years. Travel a river
that time forgot. Kayak on a prairie lake as big as a sea. Shoot white-water
rapids foaming with power. Paddle winding streams and rivers amid gentle
prairie farmlands. Glide through sun dappled waters shaded by towering
forests and parkland. Paddle for weeks through vast stretches of wilderness
or take the family on an afternoon paddle.

and wide open spaces during your outdoor adventure. The splendour of Manitoba's

Polar Bear Capital of the World”. As the geographical centre of
Canada, The Capital city Winnipeg is the largest city of the Prairies
and is renowned for the famous street corner of Portage and Main, known
as possibly the "windiest corner on the continent". Winter is
incredible here where the people get out and enjoy it. Plenty of cross-country
