Case, Gabbard debate in Kona

After months of criticizing their opponent through the media, political advertisements and campaign Web sites, the two candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives, incumbent Rep. Ed Case, D-Hawaii, and Republican challenger Mike Gabbard, squared off face-to-face at a public forum Monday.

While the candidates tackled traditional issues of traffic, drugs and the environment, Case and Gabbard's discussion of controversial issues including gay marriage, abortion and embryonic stem cell research were heated and highlighted sharp differences in their positions.
