ROCK ON
Next weekend, Rocktoberfest will be declared at the University of Hawaii at Hilo Theatre with the first-ever Fall Back to School Jam. The Jam, Saturday, Oct. 2 at 7:30 p.m., features four of East Hawaii's most popular bands -- Living in Question, Technical Difficulties, MixJah and Crop Circle.

Sky Captain is flying high
"SKY CAPTAIN AND THE WORLD OF TOMORROW" (Paramount Pictures, rated PG for "sequences of stylized sci-fi violence and brief mild language"), features fascinating state-of-the-art special effects "never seen before." They immerse the movie audience into a detailed and lush sci-fi world where pulp fiction of the 1930's comes to life. Yes, it's quite an unusual and entertaining film, made all the better by a fun plot, a trio of major stars and really cool direction.
