Pulau Ekor Tebu

The first thing that strikes you here will be the great variety of hard coral near the entry point, which makes it an invertebrate lovers dream. Within the various species of hard corals are little protruding blue and purple splashes of colour that are giant clams. They sit near the surface of the reef optimally placed to gain the most sunlight underwater. The corals that proliferate here include blue coral and soft leather corals, making for a variety of colour and texture.

Every now and then, a bowmouth shovelnose guitar shark (or two) will wander close to you out of curiosity only to dart back to the open ocean before getting too close.

If you happen to dive at this Redang dive site in the first few months of the year, you will probably sight white spotted eagle rays which usually roam here in packs of three. If you're the type of diver with both keen eyesight and a patience for spotting small things, look within the porites coral formations for Christmas tree tubular worms. Don't peek too close, however, as you might be at the receiving end of an outraged titan triggerfish attack - these can be found nesting on the sand among the hard corals or feeding on sea urchins.

This is a site with a big reputation in Pulau Redang diving and is often one of the first few dives mentioned as favourites. Coral diversity and colour and the array of reef life, including eagle rays combine to paint a very pretty and exciting picture.
