Local Transportation Inter-island buses: These leave from Stasiun Suci for Surabaya, Yogya, Jakarta, and Semarang. Buy tickets in advance otherwise seats get booked out. For Java: Elteha Bus. Co., JI. Durian near Hotel Bali, offers fares from Denpasar to Surabaya, Rp1750, and to Banyuwangi, Rp750. Leaves at 6 pm from their office and arrives in Surabaya at 5 am. Gita Bali Express are about the best and most efficient. For Yogya their bus leaves at 5:45 am, arrives 4 am (22 hours), Rp3000 including 2 meals (nasi campur and drinks), served in the afternoon and night. For Surabaya, Gita Bali buses leave at 3 different times: 5:45 am, arriving at 4:30 pm; 4 pm, arriving at 3:30 pm; and at 6 pm, arriving at 5:30 am. Costs Rp1750 with meals. Mutiara Express, JI. Diponegoro in Sangiah (also another office in Kuta village) offers bus and train connections from Bali through to Java. Cheaper than the bus companies, especially with a student card. First to Surabaya, Rp1750, then from Surabaya to Jakarta on the Gayabaru train for another Rp2200. For Malang direct, the Anugerah Express costs Rp2000, but it's a night bus so you see nothing. Kembang Express, JI. Diponegoro 43, goes to Surabaya for Rp1750. Balimas, JI. Hasanudin 27 (Tel. 2590), has the same price to Surabaya (7 am to 7 pm) and also has buses straight through to Jakarta for Rp5500. Local transportation: The bemo fare to anywhere in Denpasar city is Rp25. There are two bemo stations, on JI. Kartini and on JI. Camboja (Pasar Baru); and 3 bus stations. No bus fare to any town on the island is more than Rp350. All buses to eastern Bali leave from Kreneng Station, JI. Hayamwuruk. From Kreneng also catch minibuses to: Padangbai (and a boat further to Lombok), Rp350; Klungkung, Rp150; Amlapura, Rp300; Gianyar, Rp100; Kintamani (1500 m highland town), Rp250. All buses to western Bali depart from Stasiun Ubang, JI. Cokroaminoto; minibuses to Singaraja from here too, Rp350. Board bemos at Stasiun C.V. Giat near the Kuta Beach Bemo Station, to: Tanjung Benoa, Rp200; Ulu Watu, Rp250. They leave when they're full. Take a bemo from JI. Kartini (off the main street JI. Gadjah Madal during the day to: Ubud, Rp125, and Sanur, Rp50. To Klungkung, catch a bemo from JI. Camboja (Pasar Baru), Rp175, 40 km.

of the dead who are riot yet completely purified. This group is in turn subdivided
in pirata, those riot yet cremated, and pitara, those already cremated. The
former are still completely impure; the latter have been purified, but are still
