Stay in Denpasar Stay: Wisma Taruna Inn, JI. Gadung 27, on a quiet rubbly back street. Two km from the city cen-, ter IRp35 by bemol or a 20 minute walk. Walk up JI. only a short walk from there. Costs Rp400 with a YHA card or Rp500 without. Rent a motorcycle from them for Rp1500 a day or a pushbike for Rp500 a day. Also offers laundry service, beverages and food. This hostel is only ten minutes walk from the Kreneng Bus Terminal which provides transport to all of eastern Bali. It's also about a five minute walk to the Lilabuwana Theatre (Rp250 entrance) where there's a night market and vast food trips at cheaper prices. Watch dukuns mesermerize crowds. Sumertha Centre, which holds performances of the Kecak, Ramsyana, and Legong Dances (Rp600 for a one hour performance) is also nearby. Two Brothers inn, JI. Banjar Tegal, lies 100 m down a lane running off the main road to Kuta Beach, JI. Iman Banjol; Rp400 single (one bed), Rp500 single (two beds), or Rp600 double. Quiet, clean, safe, has electricity, sitting toilets, showers, fragrant flowers. You can easily walk or take a bemo into town, Rp25. Just stroll down the lane in your swim gear with your towel over your shoulder and thumb a bemo to Kuta Beach for a swim, Rp50. Breakfast komp/et: fruit salad, boiled eggs, banana pancakes, toast, coffee, etc. -Rp300. Try local meals in the banjar (meeting house) down the lane, mie and nasi goreng for Rp200, two sate for Rp25. Also very early in the mornings black rice pudding with shredded coconut, syrup, a delicious way to start the day for Rp5! Two Brothers will always tell you of an event going on in Denpasar - funeral, cockfight, dance, ceremony, or the like. Hotel Ami, near the Bali Post on JI. Kepunding, is a very good, inexpensive hotel with a balcony overlooking a quiet street, and nice interior. Sometimes groups stay here and it's occupied; otherwise get a room upstairs in the back. Nice family runs the place. Losmen Puri, JI. Ardjuna 10, Rp500 single, Rp1000 double. Communal bathrooms, quite central and quite ordinary Hotel Adi Yasa, JI. Nakula 11, charges Rp300 single, Rp600 double, or Rpl 500 for two with a bathroom. Rooms could be kind of close and hot at times but there is a bar. For long term stay at Hotel Yase, JI. Tanimbar (not very central), Rp10,000 a month. If you're with an Indonesian boy or girl go to Hotel Arta on JI. Diponegoro (just before the Kantor Imigrasi) where they don't ask questions; other places, there could be problems; Rp1500 a night with showers and a toilet. Note: don't ride with an Indonesian girl in a dokar; the police might follow and ask for a payoff.

two clearly separate groups of ancestors. The first of these groups consists
of the dead who are riot yet completely purified. This group is in turn subdivided
in pirata, those riot yet cremated, and pitara, those already cremated. The
former are still completely impure; the latter have been purified, but are still
considered as distinct, individual souls. The second group consists of the completely
