CMS employs more than 7,100 full-time teachers, 6,000 student support staff, and 900 administrative/office staff. More than 2,100 of the system's certified teachers have advanced degrees.
CMS is also first in the state and second in the country in terms of National Board Certified teachers, with 339 teachers achieving this distinguished honor. In 2002 alone onver 130 CMS teachers have become nationally certified. Equivalent to the CPA exam for accountants or the bar exam for lawyers, the National Board Certification documents a teacher's skills. |
