Not So Perfect Home Business
Take a good look at all the types of home business ads there are out there in the market. What does the ad say? This is good, that is fantastic, this is absolutely irresistible...etc. The core of the home business may be different but everyone is trying to attract attention to themselves the same way! Singing praises about the benefit of using their home business services or products, right?
So, What's a Small Start-up Home Business Like Yours to Do?
For a start, are you selling something different? What's your hot buttons? What makes you stand out? OK, once you've got that written down - let's get down to what you DON'T have. Think of all the negative things about your business. Ok, write THAT down too.
Now, we're going to come up with a quick ad about your home business using the above points. Can you make a guess as to which one we'll use for the ad? The good points about your home business or the bad points about your home business?
The bad points!
Saying Bad Things about Your own Home Business? ? You're Crazy
No, no, we're not crazy. In fact, we're so sane that we're earning quite a substantial income from saying this. And then telling some of our home business clients to do as we say. So, we've identified the bad points of your home business and we're trying to write an ad to get people to patronize your home business services or buy your home business products.
Turning the Head
All the good points that you have for your business is already used up by everyone else. You're fighting with everyone else for the same customers and it's tough competition, unless you've got a head-turning caption or headline, right?
And we'll use your bad points as a headline, then.
Say Your Home Business Have 2 Employees - You and Your Dog
Do you think it's possible for you to catch the attention of the people reading the ad using this headline? 'Dog and me - the perfect company! ' Or maybe 'Sam (the dog) will deliver your handbags to you in no time'. Or '1 man, 2 employees. 3riffic price"!
These captions are just some of the ideas we could use to bring attention to your ad. If your ad has space for pictures, all the better! But if it doesn't, it's time to ignore the usual warning of 'keep your bad points under wraps' or 'sweep the dirt under the blanket'....
Ah well, conventional ideas never wins awards, bear this in mind.
Just One Simple Example
One of my friends was trying to sell vitamins to her online customers. She ran out of ideas for something captivating to say. I mean, how many more articles or tips can she write about health that her thousands of other articles doesn't cover?
So, she used this. "Death if you do, Death if you don't. Die a dignified death". Seems like such a bad headline! In fact, many people she showed the ad to felt repulsed. But you know what? She made tens of thousands of dollars in that ONE MONTH alone selling her vitamin pills!
Now, YOU tell me whether it's better to keep the negatives under wraps or just bring it out into the open.
