A Home Business Article Contributed by Elizabeth Fox-Wise
Small Business Ideas are Everywhere
You do not have to look hard or seek far to find a while bunch of small business ideas! All you have to do is look at the world around you in a new light. Look for small business ideas while you are going about your normal routines every day. Small business ideas are hiding in your kitchen, your basement, your front yard, the bus on the way to work, the supermarket and everywhere else that we go. The problem is that most of us go about our days, and do not see them. Even when someone is actively seeking a small business idea, they often miss the ones following them around all day!
Identifying lucrative small business ideas is as basic as identifying problems that many people face in the course of their day and then coming up with a small business idea that will solve a problem for lots of people!
The Media has recently introduced America to Matthew Osborne, a man from Columbus, Ohio who turned a small business idea into a huge business which he later sold for a quarter of a million dollars. His small business idea was born to solve a problem that dog owners in America face every day - stepping in dog dirt in their yards! His dog waste removal idea led to an immediately successful small business which, and after several years, he sold for a quarter of a million dollars.
What do You do during the Day That Others Would Wish Someone Would do for Them? Could That Service be Your Small Business Idea?
All day long we are each performing services for ourselves and for our families. Most of these services involve care giving or life maintenance things. On a quick brainstorm, these would include services such as house cleaning, grocery shopping, meal preparation, bill paying, baking, child care, pet care, and errand running. Think a little longer and we could add lawn care, vehicle maintenance, small household repairs, rug shampooing and other deep cleaning, and painting.
If you were to sit and think again (which we won't) your list would keep growing and growing. This is one step to identifying a small business idea. Get yourself a notepad with plenty of pages and keep adding to that list of services you could perform for others as a small business. Make sure you have lots of pages because you will be amazed at the size of your list when you are finally done.
Another Good Way to Identify a Small Business Idea is a Product That Needs Improving
Every product that you use during your day, take a look at it from a different view point. Is there something you wish this product did differently or would you change the product in any way to make it better? Existing Product improvement is as the basis of many lucrative small business ideas!
Listen the the complaints you hear people make when they are using products. Think of ways you could improve upon an existing product to make a brand new product that frustrated (or otherwise dissatisfied) American's would embrace as a replacement for something else.
