Networking Your Work at Home Business

Once you have started your work at home business, you are going to want to find ways to advertise the products and services you provide. You can easily accomplish this task through networking. Before you leave your current job, make a list of clients and contacts with whom you have good business relationships. If you have a personal relationship, as well, even better.

A word of warning though, make sure that your current employer does not have a legal binder against you pursuing these people as prospective clients for your future work at home business. In some instances, companies have a 1-2 year retainer to the rights of their clients with whom you have worked. There are many ways in which you can advertise. The most obvious way is over the Internet.

Find a reputable site for a reasonable price that allows you to fully market what services or products you supply. You can also find collateral businesses (those who are in the same field as you, but provide a different service). An example would be if you were a personal trainer and you teamed up with a nutritionist. Both parties could refer work to the other. You would be surprised how much work for your home business you can get through this avenue.

Finally, remember to advertise through the Yellow Pages and referrals through word of mouth for the less tech savvy of your potential client base.

Networking Pitfalls to Avoid for Your Work at Home Business

Even though the aforementioned networking are some of the best methods of going about advertising your business, the same ways can kill your business. If the Internet site through which you advertise steals your clients money or automatically defaults to pornography or other inappropriate sites, you will lose those prospective customers. Likewise, if your collateral business associates have bad reputations concerning their clients, you will automatically be lumped with them, thus tarnishing your business, before it will have a chance to succeed.

Networking Incentives for Your Work at Home Business

There are also many incentives with networking your work at home business. First, your productivity will soar as you do not have to constantly be marketing your self to stay ahead of the business curve. The networking will inherently provide the extra customer base. This will increase your productivity and your money earned. Once your productivity and fiscal situation improve, you can network more which increases exposure, thus repeating this positive cycle of promoting your business.

This investment will increase knowledge and interest in what you are doing. From this interest you may be able to segue into franchising if you are interested. Once you franchise your home based business, you will be an up-front payment and, in most cases, a percentage of the franchises profits. If the franchise is properly run and does well, others will probably come to you to purchase franchises.

Networking not only makes your home based business prosper, but will help it continue to do so with less work from you.
