Anyone can work at home! Millions of people work at home in the United States and abroad everyday! The "traditional" workplace is growing to include home-based workers, since easy access to computers and the internet is increasing.

1) You can be your own boss! When you work at home, you don't have a supervisor or co-worker looking over your shoulder at all times. What projects you accept or reject are completely up to you. You don't have to worry about pay raises based on your boss's view of your performance. A work at home job gives you that power to choose your own path.
2) You can have flexible hours! When you have a work at home job, you don't have to follow a set schedule someone else expects you to. You can work late into the night or before the sun rises in the morning. You can take a little extra time for lunch if you want to meet a friend and you can be a chaperone for your child's school field trip. Having a work at home career gives you the reins to your daily routine. You also won't have to be denied vacation over holidays because someone else has seniority. When you work at home, your vacation plans are all up to you.
3) You can do what you enjoy doing! Are you a teacher who loves to work with kids but hates assigning grades? Maybe you'd like to work at home as a tutor, getting children prepared for school in those fun ways you never had time to use in a classroom. One of the funniest things I have ever heard from someone that does work at home is that they don't have to worry if they forget to brush their teeth in the morning or after a lunch heavy on the onion! A popular and sometimes considered BIG (though humorous) advantage when you work at home is that you can do phone interviews or type emails in your pajamas, or even your underwear! Could you imagine the person's face if only they knew they were being interviewed by someone in boxers? )
And finally, the fact that your area may be in chaos, with papers in a bit of a disarray and children running around the house, but you can still be successful is an advantage to working at home that you can smile about.
