Many who work at home are living their dream Working at home is something they have been planning and talking about as long as anyone can remember. Others are making the most of having been fired or down sized. If you find yourself in the latter group, you are undoubtedly dealing with a host of worries. Before you let your imagination carry you to a cardboard box under a bridge, stop It may not be as bad as you think As calmly as you can, evaluate your current financial situation.

If you do not have at least an approximate figure for your monthly expenses in mind, calculate it now. How much, if anything, do you have in savings? Can you borrow from family or friends? Under what conditions can you make withdrawals from your retirement account? What can you cut back on or eliminate? Talk with your financial advisor, or your dog. Make a budget and a plan Call all of your creditors before they call you They will call, so do not add to your stress level by hiding under a rock.

You may be able to refinance, get lower interest rates or defer payments. What next? Make lemonade. Whether you are working at home by choice or not, you can still have a good experience. Start with your attitude.

Your Work at Home Opportunity

Although it might feel like it, loss of a job is not loss of your life. This is a wonderful opportunity to take a look at your skills. How can you best use them to reach the next level of your career. Now is an excellent time to review your life and career goals. How can you stay on, or get back on track in spite of this setback. Take a look at yourself. If you are feeling discouraged, it may not feel like a good time to assess your strengths and talents. Ask someone close to you to help.

Think about past projects, and those things you have done well. What do you enjoy? Can you offer your expertise on a contractual basis, or as a consultant? What did you want to be when you were ten or twelve? The answers will come and, with time, research and planning you will find the work at home opportunity that suits you.

Developing a Positive Work at Home Attitude

Get out of your robe. Continue to get up and get dressed as you did before. Focus on the benefits of working at home. You will have flexibility, creative freedom, and you will be your own boss. If you find that you are getting a little stir crazy, get out for a few minutes. Hopefully, when you come back you will bring fresh energy to the task of choosing or launching your work at home venture

Be patient with yourself, you will experience a host of emotions, all of them normal-most of them temporary. Take the time to work through them, and look for the lesson in this experience. This can be an exciting time, a fresh start. It's up to you. Good luck!
