Millions of People Now Work at Home
Many people are looking for a way to work at home. Demanding schedules, families dependant on two incomes, problems with finding affordable, dependable and safe child care, cost and time involved in commuting especially with today's gas prices, all of these are reasons that so many people are looking for a way to work at home.
When most people consider working at home, they think that means that have to start a home based business. While this is definitely one option, there are other ways to work at home.
One way to work at home is by Telecommuting. Many people have a misinformed understanding of what telecommuting really is. Traditionally telecommuting meant than an employee was linked from home to their company's computer. While this still is so in many cases, today's telecommuting covers a much broader range and includes anyone who does all or even a portion of his work at home. Telecommuting basically just means doing your work some place other than at the office.
What are the Advantages to Telecommuting So You Can Work at Home?
Less time commuting means more time computing! Or more time with your family! Even if you only have to drive 30 minutes one way to your job (and millions of people have a much longer commute than that! ) That is 5 hours out of every week that is not spent at work or with family - but rather is just wasted getting from one place to another.
Work at home telecommute jobs are usually more flexible in their schedule. If you have something you have to do that will take a couple hours out of your day, typically you can just go and do it and make up the time later in the day.
Less commuting can reduce the costs of having your job. Although we all have jobs to make money, and it may sound funny to talk about costs associated with a job. But stop and think the amount of money you spend on gas to get back and forth from work, wear and tear and upkeep and maintenance on your car, and what about the wardrobe you need to constantly replenish. Work at home can cut these costs down significantly leaving more of your paycheck for the things it was intended for instead of supporting your job.
By Why Telecommute Instead of Some Other Form of Work at Home?
Unlike starting a business, telecommute positions are jobs. Most jobs, unless you are working on a commission only basis, have a guaranteed paycheck. While running a home based business might be a good choice for some people looking for work at home, others might not be in a situation where they can take the risk involved with going into business for yourself. Or they may not be comfortable with the risk level necessary to invest the capital. For those people, a telecommute job might be the ideal way to work at home.
